I'm sure I would have got a piercing way before when I did but the school I went to didn't allow any piercing or tattoos or anything like that. So we all went to Florida for our senior trip. Well when I went to Florida the 3 girls I roomed with had their belly button pierced and that's when I knew I wanted mine done too. They were so cute. One of them even warned me though, of the pain she experienced afterwards. She said the initial piercing didn't hurt. But I didn't know cause she had a tattoo and she was very tough and I am a big chicken.

I had no plans on getting it pierced I just wanted to check the place out and see prices and stuff. Plus I was so scared cause I have such a big fear of needles and I figured if I waited maybe I wouldn't be so scared. But after I talked to the piercer Qui Qui and he told me everyone he's ever pierced walks away completely happy I decided I should just do it. So I choose a single jeweled blue barbell. It was a little expensive but I really like blue and it was summer time and I wanted something that would look good with swimming suits.
So he made me fill out all the normal paperwork and copied my I.D. and than we went to this little room and everything was really clean and very surgical looking. Kaleidoscope is a very relaxing place. They had music playing and incense burning. It made me relax a little bit although I was still so nervous. Qui Qui was very nice and he knew I was very scared and nervous. I almost backed out so many times too. But before I could he had me lay down and said he needed to put the clamps on. The clamps were very painful! He didn't tell me when the needle was coming which really helped me. Than he stuck the needle through . I didn't feel the needle at all. He let me get up and look in the mirror and see my new piercing. It was awesome. Very cute. I loved my new piercing I cleaned it every day and night. I did everything I was supposed to.
A month later was when I started having problems though. Just for future knowledge none of this was kaleidoscopes fault. I don't know exactly how this happened, but it started with a little thing called a keloid. Which is this bump right by the piercing and from what I understand it occurs when you sleep on your stomach or when you have to put a band aid on it like I did for sports. And from what I understand the band aid doesn't let it breathe so all it does is push it against the side and causes a bump. I went back into kaleidoscope and asked them what I should do and he gave me instructions. He said to go a health food store and buy sea salt water.. It dries out keloid's and also gets rid of infections. Your supposed to get a shot glass and swish it around for 15 minutes. Soon after bought some saltwater and swished it around it every night. But slowly the skin was getting thinner and My belly button barbell was doing what they call migrating . Which means it was going towards my skin and attempting to get out of my body.
For four months I was in major pain and everything I did just hurt. I wouldn't even be able to sleep on my stomach. My boyfriend couldn't even touch my stomach. I just had to do something about it. There was not much skin left it looked like it could pop out at any second. It didn't even look cute anymore. So I finally took it out and went to talk to a piercer. I went to miller cotton where everyone recommended to go. He told me everything about how it looked like it was migrating and that it's a good thing I took it out. He said come back in two months and get it repierced and he would pierce it behind the scar tissue and that would make it not migrate. The only thing that sucks is that I'm sure this will hurt much more. Especially if it hit's the scar tissue. Now this doesn't happen to everyone but I wanted to let people know what could happen So if anyone has any question about any of this I am open to answering emails. I do think belly button piercing are great though an d I can't wait to have mine repierced.
