BEFORE

I've always wanted my navel pierced, probably since I was nine. I decided I'd have my tongue and navel pierced from then on, and I still intend to get my tongue done.

I asked my mom about getting my navel pierced, but she said I'd have to wait for my fourteenth birthday to come around. So here I am, I just turned fourteen, and I'm SO excited to get it pierced!

I recieved money from my grandma from my birthday, and intended for that money to go towards my piercing. I called up Bee-Cool and asked them how old you had to be to get your navel pierced, and they said "fourteen." Then I asked them how much it would cost to get it pierced, and since the ring was cheaper than the bananabar (the ring was $25,) I decided to get the ring.

So, the first time we went to the studio, we asked to get my belly pierced, but they said that the piercing wasn't there, but would return on Monday. So, he gave me a 20% off card, for all of our trouble, and we went on our way.

I called my girlfriend and told her I was going to go on Monday, or sometime that week, so she said alright, and that she was going to get her tongue done.

But before we got our piercings, she called them and made sure that it was alright for her to get her tongue done. They said no, because you're supposed to be 16 to get it done. So she decided to get her nose pierced.

Her and her mom came to our house yesterday; right before we were going and we drove away in our car, with my mom, my brother, Morgan, her mom, and me. We drove to Bee-Cool. We proceeded to get out of the car, and walk to the little tattoo and piercing parlor.

THE PIERCING-FINALLY

When we walked inside the piercing shop, she told us to pick out jewelry, so I picked out a stainless steel ring for my navel, and she picked out a little silver stud for her nose. She then asked our moms to fill out the release forms, and sign them, so that's what they did. We also needed to fill out a portion of the form.

After that was all done, they took Morgan to a back room with her mom, and Dee cleaned it up for her, and told her to lay down on the dentist-looking chair. She walked her through the procedure, and she was really nice about it. When the jewelry was put into the piercing, one single tear rolled down her face.

It was my turn next!! I was SO psyched. Morgan followed me into the piercing room, and Dee cleaned it for us, and told me to tuck my shirt into my bra, and to put my back flat against the wall. She proceeded to clean the area with these little towelette things and cotton balls. She then marked where she thought was straight, and told me to take a look in the mirror. She thought it was a bit off to the right, and so did I, so she changed it, and that looked all right.

She was really nice about, and gentle. She told me to lie down on the dentist-like chair. Then she lowered it so I was in a laying down position rather than a sitting position. She walked me through the procedure, telling me that she was going to put the clamps on first. All the while, I was deep breathing cause I know the needle goes through easier when you're relaxed. She then said when i felt a little poke and told me to deep breath, that she was going to be poking the needle through. When she poked it through, it didn't even hurt at all; it just felt a little strange. Then came the jewelry. That hurt to put in. More than the actual piercing. That's probably because I wasn't relaxed enough.

It was all done! I took a look in the mirror, and I fell in love instantly! It was BEAUTIFUL! We went up to the front, and Morgan helped me pay 20 dollars of it, since I didn't have enough money, as it was $53.50 and I only had $33.50.

I skipped out of the shop and showed my mom and my brother. They thought it was cool, too.

AFTERMATH

Now, it's been one day since I've had it pierced, and I still love it. I've been cleaning it every day and night with liquid soap (containing Triclosan), a salt water soak, and afterwards, drying it off with a cotton ball, and putting lavender essential oil on it.

I can't wait until it's fully healed, so I can get a little Playboy Bunny bananabar for it.

Anyone that's thinking about getting this piercing should go for it! It's wonderful, and beautiful. And anyone that lives in Calgary, should go get it done at Bee-Cool, all the piercings there are done by Dee. And if anyone needs advice, or anything like that, just contact me via e-mail at crazy_chicklet2001@hotmail.com. Enjoy!
