I went to my piercer and she said I would have to wait a month before piercing it again. I was really angry at myself but figured I might as well wait. But then I decided to get my tongue pierced instead, so I did that so I wouldn't be deprived of going a month without a piercing.
But after a month was over, I still wanted my navel pierced so I called up and made an appointment. I was really nervous because the first time I had my navel pierced it was my first piercing and it hurt. The first time I tensed up and she had to try twice before the needle got through. It was just a really bad spur of the moment experience. I didn't think about it and I was really stupid..
On the day of the piercing I told my mom I would be taking the bus downtown after school and she said she'd pick me up afterwards. My friend wanted to come along and watch because she is considering getting her navel done as well. So her and I took the bus downtown and walked over to Salon Bridges. We were a bit early, so we sat around and looked at jewelry and read the guestbook. Finally the girl before me was finished. She had her navel done as well.
Anne took me and my friend to the back room and told me to lie down on the chair. I talked to her for a while about aftercare and scarring.. And then she started to get things ready. When she was done she started aromatherapy on me. She made me breathe the stuff in, and then blow out really slowly. She kept me doing this for a few minutes and then she stopped and I could see her grab the needle. I tried to keep breathing because I didn't want the same thing to happen as the first time. I kept my eyes closed, I was afraid I would freak out if I watched. Then she pushed the needle through. I could feel a pinch.. But it was nothing!! I thought there was going to be more pain from her putting the ring in but then my friend said "Yay! It's done!" I was like "What? that's it?!" She then let me pick the colour of bead I wanted on the ring. I chose a purplish blue one. She put it on and I ran over to the mirror to check it out. It looked awesome! It wasn't red or anything.
We went back to the front so I could pay and I got really shaky. It was so weird because I was fine at first and my navel wasn't hurting at all. But then I was getting my bank card from my purse and I couldn't keep my hands still and my whole body starting shaking. Anne noticed and told me to sit down for a while so I wouldn't faint. So I sat down for a few minutes and I stopped shaking. I don't really know what happened. That has never happened to me before.. I think I stood up too fast or something. So then I paid. She gave the piercing to me really cheap because I had my ring from before and she felt bad that I had to get it re-done. It was only 30 bucks! That made me happy. Then my friend and I walked over to where my mom works to get her to drive us home. I showed my mom my navel and she wasn't impressed. She doesn't like piercings at all. She was like "Is that supposed to look good?" I was happy anyways.
It's been about a month since I had my navel pierced for the second time. I have to say, the healing hasn't been the best and I'm having lots of problems with my navel at the moment. It has scarred pretty badly since I've had it pierced twice. And I since I've been sick lately, it's been getting even worse. I am seeing my piercer about it and she is helping, I think it's slowly getting better. I am soaking it in sea salts twice a day and washing it with anti-bacterial soap. I hope it will fully heal and the scarring will fade.
Piercing over scar tissue is NOT as I have heard or what people have told me. I found it to be way easier than the first time and it's all over in a second anyways. The thing that should be considered is keloid scarring. I have really bad keloids that came from getting this piercing done twice.
