I have an interest in body mod, and I love this beautiful art form. I have double pierced, double gauged lobes, (½ inch gauge, and 4 gauge), and did have my belly button done, so I have also had some experience with some mods. Ever since I was about 14 I have been searching for the perfect facial piercing. I am very picky about everything I do to my body, and am very self conscious, so this was a difficult task. I also love to be different, and I always strive to have something nobody else has, or at the very least, something rarely seen, yet attractive. I have a rather odd face, but many people tell me its beautiful, or I could model. I have very high cheek bones, and strong facial features, so I knew it would be difficult to find something flattering. I dislike my nose, so I was sure I did not want anything near my nose done, and I find eyebrow piercings hideous. I decided the lip was my only real option, so that was it, I was left with one area of my face to work with, li ttle did I know, there are many, many options for that general area. You can get a plain old side lip, a monroe, a medusa, a lowbret, a labret, or cheek. I settled on a right monroe, and a left lip. Then one day I was just looking around and came across something called a dahlia, or a labret stud placed near the corner of the mouth. It was simply perfect. I fell in love.
At A Glance Author MercedesMayhem Contact dragon_dolphin_lover_91@yahoo.com When A week ago Artist Bill Studio Ink Spot Location Berwick, PA I counted down the days until my 18th birthday arrived, which was a week ago today (12-28-09). I contacted Bill, via text message, a few days ahead, he told me and my friend who was getting her nose done to come down after I had gotten out of work. The day went surprisingly fast, and I left work, ran to my car dashed home, and got ready incredibly fast.
We arrived at Ink Spot by 5pm, and I was up for bat. Bill never even had heard of the piercing but was researching it when we got there. He drew the dot for the left one a little further over than I liked the first time, but on the second shot he nailed it. I sat in the chair, heart pumping, he cleaned the spot, got out a 14 gauge needle and a labret stud, but I offered up some bioplastic studs I had bought, due to the smallness of the studs. He agreed to use it, but warned me it may swell into my lip, he clamped it and pushed the needle through, with very little pain at all to my surprise! Within seconds, it began to swell, he took out the stud and asked me if I wanted to have him redo it and put a regular stud in, I agreed and he went for it. This time, with much more pain, and I almost passed out. It was a better fit though. He said it looked cute and I went out for air, came back in, and took a look, and I loved it.
Went to the mall, then for chinese, all the while it swelling further and further. By the next day, the ball was inside my face, after work that night I went to Ink Spot and he put on a bigger ball. It was fine, for another 48 hours, then the huge ball went into my face, this time I slept with it in there, and had to put in a 14 gauge ring in in the morning. Taking out the sunken bar was so hard, I had to use gloves to grip it and twist, then very quickly get the ring over the swelling and into the bleeding, gaping hole. It was so nasty, a gaping hole resulted from the ball, and it immediately felt so much better, now 2 days later, much swelling has gone down, and it seems to be healing well, with minimal discomfort. There is a red almost tear looking scab to the left of the ring, and some white tissue on the inside around the ring, but this would seem normal.
I still worry about bad scarring, being that I am extremely pale, and have decently perfect skin. Now I clean it at least twice a day with diluted listerene, and non iodized salt outside. I do plan to get the right side done as well, but will get Bill to do it with a hoop instead. Although its been tough, I really love the way it looks, and am very happy with it. If anyone has any questions I will be more than happy to help =] Wish me the best of luck! Below os a picture, of what it was like before the ball pressed in.
