So I used to have my lip pierced about a year ago and after it closed up one day after taking it out for work[which i do not recommend since it really irritates the healing process] I was really aching for another one. I really missed my lip, but after all the trouble it caused me I didn't want another one. So I decided I just wanted a monroe, it was the simplest thing I could get as of the moment so I decided to go for it. I also just thought it would be really cute.

A couple days before I decided on it I thought maybe I'd get a double monroe, I'd never seen it before and thought it would look cute. When I told my friend about it I found out other people had it too, and we looked up some pictures. I decided I definitely wanted it but we needed to go to the store and get the jewelry. So me and my friend went to the mall and bought some labret's for it to be pierced. She orders her own needles and forceps online, and we usually do our own piercings. You shouldn't really do your own piercings without knowledge of the anatomy of a human, but we wouldn't do anything too big, just little piercings(either way i'm not recommending it). So we came back and it was time to do it. We both marked the locations making sure they were in the perfect placement on both sides. We then sterilized everything and made sure everything was all clean and ready to go.

I must admit, I was a bit nervous from the built up adrenaline of being about to be pierced. But I have to say as terrible of a feeling it is, it's the best. She put the forceps on and readied the needle, I took a deep breath in and exhaled. It was like 1, 2, 3 and it was through. You don't really feel any pain, all you feel is the needle passing through. The worst part of piercings is usually the sliding in of the jewelry, but the piercing itself is virtually painless, It gives you that great rush.

Next we did the right side after the left one was all good, besides the burning from all the alcohol we used to sterilize everything. The right side was a little rougher than the left side, it didn't slide through as easily and it seemed like we hit a small tough spot. The labret wouldn't go through the right way so we had to flip it around so the back of the labret was the front and leave it that way until it was in for a while. I don't really know why that happens sometimes with piercings, but it sucks. We kept it in all night long and in the morning I got it through pretty fine. I loved them so much, and they were very cute. If anyone's afraid of getting pierced, you really shouldn't be. It's not painful whatsoever, depending on the person and their tolerance, but it really shouldn't be too unbearable. If you really want piercings, the pain shouldn't be an issue. Nothing ever comes easily, and a few seconds of pain is nothing when you'll be so happy afterwards with your new piercing.

I had my piercing for about two months and it was healing up really nicely, no infection whatsoever. But one of the balls fell off while I was out and I didn't have another one , or money to get one so I just took out the right one. Now I only have my left monroe and I still love it and think it's cute. But I can't say I don't miss my double monroe. I highly recommend the piercing to anyone who is thinking about getting it done.

Lately I've been thinking about doing it over and re-piercing it. It would be a little tougher after having the scare tissue there, but I could move it over a little bit. I think the piercing looks best with little diamonds in it, too big of a ball won't look good on anyone in this kind of piercing. I have a little scar where my right monroe used to be and I can't say I don't think of it everytime I see it. I'm sure no one else notices the scar, but I know it's there. If anyones really worried about getting a piercing because you think it'll scar too bad if you take it out, don't be. Piercings don't have to be a life long commitment, and the scarring is minimal to unnoticable if done correctly. The acception to that is a really bad infection. Only really bad infections happens when you neglect your piercings. If you don't want a gross scar, just take care of it. If you don't want to take care of your piercings, you shouldn't have gotten one in the first place.

So I hope this helped whoever was nervous about doing a monroe, or any piercing at all.

:]
