For months I wanted my cheeks pierced, my own cute little dimples. However I had to wait until I had the money and until I turned 16, I did alot of research on the piercings and told my parents I wanted them done, eventually. Yesterday however was the day after my sweet 16, and I had $80 from my last paycheck in my room saved up for them... which definately wasn't enough, but for my birthday my lovely grandparents sent me around $90 in birthday money, coming in checks and cash (I love them for it).
At A Glance Author Shona Contact Shona@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Jen Studio Rev piercings (in sin city tattoo's) On 17th Avenune Location 17th avenue Calgary Alberta I decided at lunch while I was at school I phoned many places, many of the places said that I couldn't get them done because I wasn't 18, or because they had done them in the past and screwed them up, and alot of them asked for quite a bit more than I had.
So after school I decided I would walk down 17th avenue and find a good place to go that has experience with cheeks, good experience though.
So I took the number 7 bus from my school and took it halfway along 17th and got off near immaculate concept (I've heard good things about them) but when I went in when they heard that I was only 16 they told me to come back in a few years. So I walked a little bit more, found a place (can't remember the name) and they refused me too because they wouldn't even do them (same old story...*sighs*).
I continued my journey, and only a few stores later I found Sin city Tattoo's and inside of it theres Rev piercings (I had never heard of Rev but the atmospere was nice, they were clean and Jen's favourite piercing to do was cheeks).
So I asked how much they would cost, and for me it would be $120 because I was getting two, if I was getting one I beleive they said it would be $80 so I thought that was a pretty good deal.
I sat down and filled out the paper work, showed them my ID (the little ID that I have...).
Then I waited maybe for only 10 minutes, but I was nervous so it could've been longer, I looked around at the tattoo designs on the walls and was about to look at jen's portfolio when she called me over for my cheeks.
I was very nervous, this would be my first two professional piercings (I've alreday got three lip rings, my tongue, a medusa, my septum, both nostrils, my bridge, a monroe, a smilie, two in my tongue webbing, 00 ears and one of my nipples but they were done by myself with unopened bubble packet needles and I had read up on the proper procedures) and I was scared that she would for get something, or place them wrong.
I sat down in the white chair, she asked if I wanted them right in my cute natural dimples and I said yes, and because that your dimples are your sweet spot in your cheeks she didn't have to find a spot without veins or anything.
She began to dot my cheeks, the first ones were even, but I wanted them a little lower (now that I'm looking at them a few mm higher would've worked too) so she redid the dots and showed the man who was working on a tattoo and asked his opinion then she asked a few more people, and they were symetrical and didn't need to be re-done.
after the awful mouthwashing, I laid down in the chair she put the clamp on one and jabbed the needle through my cheek after I took a big breath in and out again, she put in the jewellery got the ball screwed on, then I asked if I could see the first one, and jen gave me a mirror and I loved it! so the second one was done the exact same way, I just had to move a little bit, however for the second one I flinched a little(I always flinch with the second not the first)but it was still perfect.
When she was done she told me a little bit about aftercare, but it was just a reveiw for me and she told me slurpies and icecream would be my bestfriend, and that she'd like me to come back in about a week so that I could be in her portfolio and in a month I'll get the bars reduced.
It's now the day after, theres only a little swelling, and I've already attempted eating, they look perfect and I love them. <3
(an hour after I got them done my boss phoned me and told me that I had to come in to work... that was pretty painful but I survived thankfully)
