I had always been a fan of the look of snakebites, but to my dismay, my parents would have a shit fit if I came home with them. They already hated my 7/8' lobes enough. I had always thought about getting them pierced and putting retainers in right off the bat, but upon further research I learned that would not be a very good idea. Finally the day came where every growing boy leaves home to live on their own, which for me, was my window of oppurtunity to get my snakebites done.
At A Glance Author Shipwreck780 Contact shipwreck780@hotmail.com When Three months ago Artist Karen Studio Body Bar Location Drayton Valley, Alberta I started to look into piercing shops in Edmonton to get my snakebites down, and was thinking about going to Shambala on Whyte to get pierced by Lexci Million. The only problem with going to Edmonton to get pierced was I was unfortunate to have written my car off in a previous auto accident so making it to Edmonton was a challenge and a half.
My room mate and co-worker Kurtis was telling me about how he had planned to get his eyebrow re-pierced and asked me to come along and check it out and possibly get pierced as well. I asked him where he planned on getting it done and he told me about this new studio that just opened up in Drayton Valley called the Body Bar. He told me that he knew the piercer and that she did great work. I thought it sounded like a good time so I closed up shop early to make it down to the Body Bar before it closed.
I met Kurtis down at the Body Bar and he had already paid up and was ready to go. Now, knowing that my parents were out of the question, and knowing how much I admired snakebites, I decided to attempt to get mine done. Luckily for me, I have a TERRIBLE phobia of needles so I was worried about ducking out.
I really didn't want to wussing out so I paid on my debit card so that I could not get a refund. Karen called me and Kurtis into the piercing room and asked who wanted to go first. Kurtis jumped on the oppurtunity and she peirced him. I don't know why I did, but I watched Karen pull out the needle she was going to used and I instantly felt light headed. I faught through it though and my turn was up.
Karen sat me down and marked off both sides of my lip where she was going to pierce. I didn't like the orignal placement and I asked her if she could space them out just a little bit more. I could feel the butterflys in my stomach growing, but now I felt more excited than anything to see the finished product. I closed my eyes and she took the needle out and she clamped my lip.
She told me to take a deep breath, and I got nervous as I knew what was coming, but to my surprise, the needle pushing through my skin only felt like a slight pinch and wasnt that bad at all.
"One down, one to go I thought," as she clamped the left side of my lip. Once again, she told me to take a deep breath and the needle slid through my lip a second time. This time hurt a little bit more but to my surprise I took it like a champ. I'm usually a wimp when it comes to pain.
Karen whiped the minute amount of blood away from my lip and I opened my eyes and fell in love with what I saw. The piercings looked absoluty perfect! I made the mistake of looking at the needle she used to pierced me and felt like I was going to pass out. After a quick cup of water and an extended sit in the piercing chair I was on my way to go show off my new bites.
I went back to work to show all my co workers the new piercings and everybody loved them, showering me with comments such as "They suit you so well!" and "It looks like you've had them forever!"
The healing process on my lip went absolutly flawlessly and I never encountered one problem at all, except for losing the balls on the flat-backs which was terribly annoying. The swelling was very minimal.
Eating was really awkward at first, trying not to catch the labrets on my teeth. Smiling was also awkward at first as my lips we're slightly larger than normal, people were telling me I looked more violated than happy when I was trying to smile.
I'm very interested in stretching my lip now, as I love stretching my lobes. I've checked out many galleries on bmezine.com on large labrets and I think they look fucking awesome. Black plugs would also go really well with my black plugs.
