It was Mardi Gras night, I had just been to the parade (which was freezing). The first place we went to was Moderne Primitives. I had my first 3 piercings at another location but still moderne primitives and i Loved my experiences. Coming in to the one in Shreveport was sort of a let down.. one cashier, never looked me in the face, seemed high or drunk. Told me to go around the corner and ask for Mickey, he was the piercer. Well Mickey never came out of the room, and I figured that was just the pierce room.. nope, mickey was giving a tattoo. It was going to be a while on the tattoo, and of course they wouldnt stop to pierce me then finish the tatt. So I asked the girl up front how long he might be, she said it would probably be a while and reccommended the She Devils place. Proceed to she devils...

The people were sort of dragging. All the people seemed very slow. I put it off my mind, because I really wanted this piercing, maybe they were tired. Most of the time you can tell if someone is tired, and the woman that pierced me was not tired. She was either drunk or high, I couldn't tell for sure. Being the impatient dummy that I am, I went ahead and said the ok to get the piercing done. There was a lot of people in a SMALL room and then the small room had 4 or 5 other smaller rooms to do the piercings or tattoos. A man gave me some paperwork to fill out, then a woman asked for it after I was done filling it out. After the piercing was done another woman asked me if I had paid yet.. I was like.. I could have said no, people need to get on the ball and check with your co-workers. If I went there again I would try not to be in such a rush to get a hole in my face. I would also make sure that the people were sober, maybe sit down and talk with them if they aren't busy. But being a Saturday night and Mardi Gras.. they were pretty busy.
Piercing:
Sat down on a hospital bed type thing, there were two women in the room. One doing the piercing and the other watching and/or helping. She got a little cup of mouthwash, told me to swish that around then spit it back in the cup. I've read that some piercers say you should swish it for a bit like a minute or something then spit it out but I don't know whats best so maybe she was right in not telling me to swish for a minute. I spit it out in the cup. She asked me which side i wanted it on, then put a mark there with a purple marker, I said it was good. She had the clamps ready, with a rubber band wrapped around them to hold tighter. She put something yellow around the area (iodine I guess),then some rubbing alcohol and then put the clamps on. The clamps didnt hurt at all, I had no idea that the monroe was the more painful of the facial piercings, so I was thinking the clamps would be the worst part. WRONG! The clamps were nothing. She had the needle sitting in a spot of clear jelly like stuff, she picked it up then told me to take a deep breath, let it out.. take another one, let it out then pain! (without love, pain can't get enough!) Yea it hurt, it wasn't too bad though. Worst piercing pain than i've had before. (compared to labret, nostril, eye brow, and scar tissue eye brow) Definitely a juicy part of the face to get a hole put through it. It bled a little bit, I never saw the blood. She cleaned it off before I got to look at it. After that I only had a small dot of blood that I took off before heading home.
Day After:
I woke up with it fine. There were no problems at all. Now later in the day I had to eat something. Eating was a little hard. I couldn't open my mouth very wide or it felt like the hole was being ripped open. I went ahead and ate anyway but I now wish I hadn't. I don't think it would have swollen up as much today if I had just taken tiny bites of food. I was able to eat the night I got it just fine, but I guess since the skin around the outside has sort of started its healing process, that makes the hole more sensitive. I've cleaned it like I am supposed to (mouth wash after smoking and eating, washing my hands before touching it and making sure there isn't any moisture left on it after clea ning), and taken an Advil for the swelling and the mild pain. Right now it hurts a little bit, the ring is sort of going into my lip but not so bad that I can't push it out with the other side, my teeth. If I would just leave it alone it'd be ok. That's my advice, as much as it bothers you while its healing.. leave it alone.
