My Monroe Piercing.

Hopefully this story of mine will help people realize that it's always best to go to the tattooist or piercer that you know and trust.

I went to a place called Goodfellas Tattoo Company today, out of Warren, PA. I heard they were decent, and it was a new local business, so I decided to try them out for my Monroe piercing that I had wanted. Bad idea. I usually go to Almighty Tattoo, in Jamestown, NY, and see my piercer, Tyrel.

I have debated for a while whether or not to get a Monroe. I have seen it on many women, and some men too, even, and sometimes it looks good, other times, it looks terrible. I guess the same goes with any piercing, but the monroe really does accent the face, and I wasn't too sure if I had the face for it or not. I decided to go out on a whim, and get it done anyways, I could have always taken it out if I didn't care for the way it looked. This would be my tenth piercing. The others I have done are : Labret, Tongue, Bridge/Earl, Lower Nostril, Navel, Left Nipple, Clitoral Hood (retired), Both Lobes (which are at 8 Gauge at the moment), and now the Monroe. I went to Goodfellas, in Warren for the piercing. The piercer was Chris. Not a very pleasant or friendly guy, he hardly said two words to me the whole time. I'm not really used to that, my usual piercer, Tyrel, is very chatty and friendly. First off, I asked about a nape piercing, another one I want to get done, and the piercer said he refused to do those. Why is beyond me.So,I asked about the price of the Monroe, (which was a bit high), filled out the paperwork, showed my ID, and then paid in advance. Now came the fun. First off, he didn't even have sterile jewelery for the piercing, I had to wait for him to autoclave a piece. Apparently his autoclave wasn't the best, because it seemed to take forever. Now I was not nervous at all for this one, I have two other oral piercings, plus the rest of them, and was pretty confident that I could anticipate what the level of pain would be, if there was any at all. Well, during the wait, I decided to go through the tattooists portfolios. What I seen was not impressive. I've seen better out of scratchers. The tattoos were bad. I had a feeling I shouldn't be there, but they had their credentials, and diplomas, and certificates all over the walls, and I had already paid for it, and he had already put the piece in the autoclave, so I decided against my judgement and stayed. Now when the piercer was ready, I went back and sat down for the piercing. First off, he had a hell of a time with the clamps and decided his fingers would be better. I didn't mind so much at first, but he insisted I close my eyes for the piercing, for some odd reason. So, I did, and he pierced. Of course, he didn't get it quite right the first time, so he pulled the needle out a bit and went for it again. Now that hurt like hell. Only after the needle was in did I see that it was not hollow. So now, he had to pull the needle out and fight to get the jewelery in. It took about ten minutes to get the jewelery in, and hurt like hell while he was trying to push it through. My eyes started watering, like they usually do with facial piercings. What surprised me is that I didn't bleed, at all. I always bleed. With every piercing I have had, I have bled at least a little bit. According to my regular piercer, bleeding is actually good. Now the piercer, who actually told me that the placement of the jewelery would hurt AFTER he already had it in, insisted he just decid It's been a few hours since the piercing now, and it's swollen pretty good, and a bit sore. The soreness has gone down though. I actually do think it looks pretty good. It's cute, if I were to look for a word to describe it. Not the look I would have imagined, but I still like it, either way. It has swelled a lot more than I expected. I never really had a problem with swelling, except for my tongue, but this one is quite swollen. The post of the jewelery is a bit long, I've noticed, as it keeps getting caught in my teeth. I like the piercing, but would NOT recommend the parlor to anyone. The guy is an ass, his piercing techniques are bad, his tattoo designs are shitty, and his prices are way too high. Good piercing, bad experience.
