Okay well I have been waiting for EVER for this damn piercing...I mean it was so long that my decisions changed off and on for about five years and by the time my mom had just decided to give me $50.00 for my 16th birthday for a piercing I decided on the Madonna (originally in honor of Marilyn Monroe...but I figure I can handle my pain on my right side better).

When the day finally came...I was creamin my jeans! My mom drove me to High street...I love it there... and we parked and walked in. Dave was really nice! Although he said I should go get a go ahead from my orthodontist on count of my braces I simply demanded that he do it right then and there! So he said ok and I went and filled out the papers and blah blah blah...had a seat in the lobby type thing. And then he called me back and I was a readyish nervous!.
I had asked Dave if it was alright if my Mom went back with me because I wanted her to record the whole thing on my digital cam. He said she had to be in the room to witness it all I guess... She was all like "oh my gosh"...not literally but she gets nausous with these kinds of things. So after we talked about the important stuff he found the spot on my lip and cleaned it and marked it and gave me a mirror...it was in the perfect spot.
I hade began to have second thoughts about which side I wanted it on. I was scared that my left side couldnt hold pain... (Thats probably why I have my tattoo and my nose pierced on my right side!!!!!!!!) Soon he clamped it and told me to take a deep breath and I guess he put it in...I could barely feel it...I mean there was a piercing little itch for like .0145451654 seconds.
Dave had a little trouble getting the jewelery in but after it was in...it looked great! I was so excited to show everyone. After that we went to Bob Evans...yummmm. However, I have had issues with my Madonna...so far it has got infected twice. I probably touched it too much...Just don't touch it if you are planning on getting any piercing done. That was the number one rule that I was supposed to follow. I didn't and yeah its not very pleasent walking around with a little puss bubble on your face!
I also recommend going to a piercer that you can get along with and talk to without any awkwardness! I also recommend that you go to a piercer or piercing parlor that uses internally threaded jewelery which helps reduce scaring if you later decide to remove it.
It's a good sign if the piercer cleans and prepares everything infront of you. That shows that they have nothing to hide and they are serious about the quality of your piercing. The only reason that I wished I didn't get it pierced was because I couldn't kiss my boyfriend for (what was supposed to be) three months. Wow that sucked I think we had exchanged pecks but it truly SUCKED...wow...
So eventually we broke up and it wasn't that hard to avoid kissing each other...right? ='[ haha I'm such a dork. But yeah This piercing is what everyone asks me about. It's always "Did that hurt?!" "Oh my gosh thats so cute" or "Moley moley moley" or "Can I touch it?"...Yeah I get a wide variety of responses but I haven't got a negative one yet! Woo hoo!
I think that it is one of the most unique piercings out there. I mean it's popularity is on the rise but not as much as tongue piercings or belly button or even regular right or left sided lip piercings =] these are especially cute when you have a little post with a little ball with some type of rhinestone or some other jewel. I have yet to try it but I know it looks cute on other girlies! I am currently working on getting a hoop in there as soon as I get one. I plan on posting pictures so look for me on the site!
