I recently got a vertical labret piercing which I am very pleased with, and after many, many hours spent deliberating in the mirror I decided to go and get a medusa piercing to complement it. This sounds like a rash decision but it really was not - I had considered a medusa long before I got my labret done. The decision about the medusa was made late at night on Sunday and I knew I was going to be busy for the first part of the week so I decided to go get pierced on Wednesday!

When I meandered in the door I was greeted by Phil and I told him that my vert labret was healing great and that I was very pleased with it. I first asked him if it would be at all plausible for me to get a vertical medusa piercing as I had seen some pictures of them that morning on BME - he had a good look at my top lip and he advised me that it was just too thin and any bar that he put in it would stick out and look ridiculous - ha-ha well at least he was honest! He said that a normal medusa piercing would look fine and would sit well on my face as my top lip dips in a little.
Phil went next door to get everything ready and clean and I sat chatting to [iam]LittleJohn[/iam] who has recently started working as a piercer along side Phil - he decided he was going to sit with me whilst I got pierced and hold my hand as I was sure I was going to cry!
After about ten minutes of random chit chat with John it was time to go through, Phil marked up where the ball was to sit on my top lip and asked me if I was happy with the positioning. Though it was perfectly in-line with my labret I did not think it was close enough to my top lip - so after a bit of rubbing out rearranging he placed the dot into the perfect position and it was time for mouth rinsing. Phil and John both agreed that people that have had this piercing have all said it was rather a lot more painful that a labret one so I should brace myself.
Lying on my back clutching at Johns' hand I am completely and utterly braced for this piercing (well I do not think I fooled anyone with my put on cool exterior - but at least I tried) Phil asks if I am ready - I give a little nod and the clamps go on, and then there is a sharp burning pain and a slight amount of discomfort as the needle is swiftly pushed through.... And that's it! My eyes started streaming because they always do when I get pierced, and John very kindly wiped my tears away as Phil threaded through the jewellery and tightens it all up. As soon as he had taken the clamps off I was up and at the mirror for a nosey.. It is perfectly inline with my labret piercing and when I stick out my tongue it looks amazing with my tongue piercing there as well - I have six little silver balls in a row!
They both seem to look at me as if waiting to hear me complain about how much it hurt, but I was totally honest with them, I think it was the most comfortable piercing I have ever had! I stood up to leave and my knees went all shaky so I sat at reception for what was meant to be ten minutes, and an hour later I am still chatting away to them, deary me! I tipped Phil for the piercing as he has done all three of my oral piercings to date - and all three of them line up perfectly. I am so happy with the outcome I truly am. The only issue I have had is because I got my vert labret done only a few weeks ago my mouth is slightly overwhelmed by the huge bars that are in them for healing but I am going to go in again on Tuesday to see about getting a smaller bar for my labret.
My piercing did not swell at all on the first day, but today it is rather tender - I have been told I am sporting an "Angelina Jolie" look. Although the bar has only been in for two days now it is not causing me any awkwardness or discomfort in eating or talking. I have a perfect little line down my lips and I love how it looks.
