Alright, so this isn't the first time my lip has been pierced. I have a very bad habit of boredom and get a little needle happy when this happends. I usually just pierce my ear when I get to that extent of boredom, but since I've stretched my ears out that's no longer an option I like to use.

I've since pierced my nose about 6 different times, my lip a few times and I've taken them all out because they either got boring or to be a pain in my ass. But the piercing/piercings I've always taken and interest in were snake bites. I've loved them ever since I saw a guy with them at Six Flags one year when I was 12.
I'm now 16 and I have my ears stretched to 1/2 and my beautiful snake bites, plus a navel ring. Here's the story of how my snake bites came about.
I was going through BME one day, about 3 months after taking out my center lip bar and eyebrow ring. I was aching to pierce something but needed to see what I thought would look best.
I had no facial piercings left at the time, so I just decided to look through all the different lip rings. I looked through the labret/lip ring section and looked at the many different side lip rings. I took a special fancy to the side lip ring so I decided to pierce the left side of my lip.
I got my gloves, needle, jewelry and cleaning solutions and began. I popped the ball out of the 14 gauge captive bead hoop and dropped them into the cleanser along with the needle. I prepped the left side of my lip, wiping it clean of make- up and any ifectious oils that were on my skin. (No I am not a professional piercer, I'm sixteen for Christ sake.)
I swished a little scope around in my mouth to numb the inside. (I don't recommend Scope, use Listerine. Scope happend to be the only thing handy.) And after that rubbed a little ice on the outside.
I took the needle out of the cleanser and dried it, dipping it into some KY lubricant so it would go through easier. I marked my lip where i wanted it pierced with an earring marker i had gotten in an ear piercing kit a while back and positioned the needle on the dot.
I began to push, feeling the familiar burn as the needle worked it's way forcefully through layer after sensitive layer of the skin of my lip. I finally got it all the way through and slowly, and carefully pulled it back out, sliding the hoop in quickly so it wouldn't close up, snapping the bead into place.
I wiped my freshly pierced lip down and put some medicated cleanser on and around the hoop. I grinned into the mirror. I was extatic.
About a week later my lip had finally healed. The crust had stopped forming around the opening and it didn't hurt anymore. I kept getting compliments on how good it looked from all my friends.
I was looking at BME again and came across a picture of a guy with snake bites. It reminded me of the guy I saw at Six Flags. After that I knew what I wanted. I wanted to pierce the other side of my lip. And I was going to.
I got all my stuff gathered up again. Gloves, cleanser, needle, mouth wash and all that.
I re- did all the steps I had done the time before, carefully marking the new spot evenly with the other lip ring. I dipped the clean needle in KY and positioned it at the dot, beginning to push. This one hurt really bad. The one before didn't hurt this much at all. The right side I found was my most sensitive side.
I had to pull the needle out from halfway twice and push it back in. The hole was bleeding terribly by now. I dropped the needle back into the cleanser and cleaned my battered lip, getting it to eventually stop bleeding.
But a little blood wasn't going to stop me from getting my snake bites completed. I dried the needle for the second time, re- dipping it into the lube and began working it through the half hole. I finally just took a deep breath and pushed it through. With 1 grunt and a few 'fucks' the hoop was finally in.
The next few days were the worst. It got a small infection and I had to do sea salt soaks twice as much.
About 2 weeks later it was completely healed. All signs of infection were gone and they looked complete. Beautiful. And to be even happier they were perfectly even. Haha.
I get even more compliments now with snake bites than I did with the single lip ring. I'm told they suit me well.
If you're thinking about snake bites just make sure it's what you want.
Happy piercing.
