Ever since I was a young girl I have loved piercings/tattoos and other types of body art/adornment. When I was around 4 years old I wanted my ears pierced SO bad that I would take scotch tape and stick things to my ears that would resemble jewelry. I still remember the day my Mom found me with rose petals stuck to my ear!
At A Glance Author prettyflawed Contact prettyflawed@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Sandy Studio Primal Instinct Location Kelowna, BC Canada I finally was allowed to get my ears pierced when I was 7, and it hasn't stopped since then! By the time I was in Grade 8 I had my ears pierced about 7 times on each ear.
In the past five years or so I have gotten my Nostril, Daith, Clitoral Hood, tongue, Septum done. I got pregnant in 2003, and when I had to have my fraternal twins my c-section I had to take everything out. After they were born I ended up just leaving out my daith piercings, and then eventually I took my tongue ring out as well due to numerous problems. It was my second time having it pierced.
When I went back to work in May I started really toying with the idea of getting a lip ring or labret piercing. I work in the public so I was kind of worried about impressions, but finally I just thought "Screw it" I am not a different person if I get it done and if people don't like it, I really don't care!
This past Monday my co-workers and I were out of town for a workshop, and we decided that it was 'the' day! My co-worker and friend just got a monroe a few weeks earlier at the same shop, so she wanted to go in to the shop to buy some smaller jewelry to put in when hers was healed. This wasn't my first time in this shop, but it was my first time in their new location. It was beautiful! Extremely clean, very personable and very friendly staff. They had numerous tattoo and piercing rooms and loads of retail items like clothing and jewelry to sell to the public. I have been into other tattoo/piercing places and felt completely out of place and kind of intimidated but totally not here. The endorphins kicked in!
The piercer girl came out and my friend did her business. When she was done I asked her if she had time to do a labret, and she did! She went to the back to clean up and get ready and called me into the back room. My co workers came in with me and I sat on her chair/bed. We chit chatted about what I have had done before, etc. She put on her gloves and used some ink and a tooth pick to mark the spot I wanted pierced. I didn't want a lowbret, I wanted it higher up right under my lip. I checked, we made a few changes, and then it was in the perfect spot!
She cleaned my face off, changed her gloves and got the needle and jewelry ready. I didn't really know what to expect because my last piercing, my septum, hurt like a son of a bitch and had to be re-done because it was crooked (NOT the same place) She clamped my lip, told me to take a deep breath in and slowly out. While I did that she got the needle into place. She told me to take one deep breath in, and slowly release it. While I did, she pierced me! It felt good. I forgot the rush of endorphins and how good it feels when it's finally through. She put the jewelry in, cleaned it off, and voila! My new lip bling! I also left with some Dragon mist, which I recommend to everyone as well.
The ball is kinda big, but I know I have to keep the longer stud in right now till it heals. I am totally happy with it! I'd recommend anyone to Primal Instinct in Kelowna, BC Canada. They are very friendly and know what they are doing.
Our boss was with us as well, and after battling cancer last year she has decided to live life to the fullest and ended up getting a beautiful tattoo last month, and she had been talking of getting her eyebrow done as well. We talked her into getting her eyebrow done! (She's 43) It looks fantastic and it hardly swelled at all. I definitely think that's next on my list. I am so fortunate to work in a business (Hair and Esthetics) Where I can wear body jewelry and it's alright.
It's been 2 days now and the swelling is starting to go down a bit. I LOVE it so much and have gotten lots of compliments on it. I can't wait till I can take the boring jewelry out and put something shiny in there :)
