I'd wanted my lip pierced since I was about 15. When I was 16 I mentioned the idea to my mum, and she reacted as I expected, she said no and lectured me about how it would ruin my face etc. But she said I could get it done when I was 18. In the meantime I decided to get my belly button done because that I was allowed to do, I also got an industrial and 3rd hole in my lobes while I was waiting!

So now finally after finishing school forever I've got my lip pierced!
I decided to go to Tribal Child in Llandudno because most of my friends with piercings got them done there and they recommended it. So last week I went and booked my appointment for 2pm, Saturday 9th September. I always thought I would get a centre lip ring, but when I told my mum I'd made my appointment she said she would prefer a labret stud if I was going to get my lip pierced. So because she was a bit annoyed about the whole thing I decided to compromise and get a stud.
So yesterday at 1:50pm I arrived at Tribal Child, I filled in the forms and told them what I wanted. Then I had to wait a while. There was one person getting pierced before me, he was getting a labret stud too but much lower down from his lip then I wanted. It was probably the waiting that was the worst part. I always seem to work myself up before getting a piercing, I felt sick and dizzy just thinking about it!
Finally it was my turn to get my piercing. I went into a small very clean room and sat on the bench like what they have in doctor's rooms. The woman who pierced me was really nice and made me feel at ease. She explained the whole procedure to me explaining exactly what she was going to do. Then I had to wash out my mouth with some pink mouthwash to clean it. When I sat back down on the bench the woman cleaned the outside of my lip with an anti bacteria wipe and we discussed the placement. She was really patient and made sure that I was happy with where we picked.
Then came the scary part! She changed her gloves and put the clamp on my lip. It pinched a little bit but not too much. Then she got the needle and asked if I was ready. I said yes and she pushed the needle in to my lip while telling my to take deep breath. I would be lying if I said it didn't hurt, because it did, but not as bad as I was expecting. Then she pulled out the needle and cut the little plastic tube that was still in my lip. She used this to thread the labret stud in to my lip. As soon as the stud was in then blood started pouring out of my lip. I could feel my mouth filling with blood and it was starting to drip on to my jeans. The piercer looked a little worried but kept her cool and told me some people bleed more than others, while stopping the blood by applying pressure with a tissue. When I had stopped bleeding she changed her gloves and screwed the ball on to the end of the stud.
At this point I was feeling a little faint so she told me to lie down. While I was lying down she got a mirror to show me my new piercing. It looked great. I thanked her, and while I was regaining strength she just chatted to me about other people she's pierced and about all the piercings she's had, then explained the aftercare procedure to me. Wash my mouth with mouthwash 3 times a day after meals, and use antibacterial soap on the outside twice a day. When she was certain that I was ok to leave she gave me some water to wash out my mouth, then I thanked her and left.
One day on and my lip is doing great! There is a little bit of swelling but that's expected. Eating is pretty difficult, it takes me a while to finish a meal, and I have to use a straw to drink. The only downside is that I'm not allowed to drink alcohol for about 2 weeks, and it's my birthday tomorrow! So no drunken partying for me!
I don't regret getting my lip pierced at all and I would recommend Tribal Child to anyone living in North Wales! The people were very friendly and the whole place seemed very clean and professional.
