Let me start by saying that I am extremely picky when it comes to who pierces me. I had had a little trouble in finding someone I trusted to put a piece of metal into my flesh. That was until I found Josh, he's an amazing piercer and he cares about his clients, plus, he's really funny. Bonus!

I met him back when I got my vertical industrial, which is another story I have up here on BME... somewhere, so it was a given that I would go back to him when I'd decided to get new liprings.

I'd had snakebites for over 2 years and they'd been becoming more common, noticeably in my crowd of friends. My friend Sarah got them, her boyfriend got them, and my other friend wanted them. Its not that I got the piercings so I could be different, I got them for me because I liked them but I just didn't like that everyone else wanted them after I got them.

I loved my liprings to death, and hated to lose them as they had become so much a part of me that I never even noticed they were there ("what liprings?...oh, yeah") so I decided to get a triple set off to the left side of my lip (three liprings).

I'd been planning to go with my friend Jamie, cause I hate going alone and she'd wanted her Monroe done. We showed up and both told him exactly what we'd wanted and Jamie was going to go first (in fear of not wanting to go if I got mine first). I'd decided two would be better than three at once, then get the third later on.

Jamie went in and I went with her, to hold her hand cause she was a bit scared to get a hole in her face, of all things. Jamie is an extremely gorgeous girl and a Monroe suited her face perfectly. She went through the process of marking, washing out her mouth and laying down while he got everything ready, and we talked a little and teased each other.

It was funny cause when he told her to open her mouth she did, but not very wide and I don't know if it was cause she was tensed up or what, but he teased her "if that's as far as you can open your mouth you must have a very unhappy boyfriend". this made her laugh and open her mouth that little bit wider. I teased her that she was holding my hand very close to her crotch area and he teased saying "none of that unless i can join".

He clamped her lip and then pushed the needle through, followed by the jewellery. She was oddly trying to talk without moving her mouth, so I teased her as he had a little trouble putting on the ball (he dropped it on the floor and had to open a new one). Her piercing looked gorgeous, even the larger size of the ball looked good.

Then it was my turn and I got marked and washed with an energy I'd never felt before, I loved getting pierced/ piercing myself (I DO NOT recommend self piercing, but as I cannot control you, I highly recommend using proper equipment and a good sterilization routine) because piercings always gave me that amazing adrenaline rush.

He began to gather his things and Jamie had gone out of the room for her fear of needles, I held a smile the entire time without knowing and then when he told me to open my mouth he teased "now YOUR boyfriend must be very happy" hinting that I had my tongue pierced as well as gauged.

He had to push them through one at a time and clamped the first mark, prepped and then told me to breathe in and out and pushed it through as I breathed out, then pushing the jewellery through without trouble. It didn't hurt at all, but for someone that has 29 piercings and a lot of ingrown holes, that isn't much of a surprise. He clamped the second one right next to the first and went through the same process of breathing, piercing and following through with the jewellery. This one didn't hurt at all either, even though I expected it to a little more than the first.

We went to the front to pay and he went through on telling Jamie how to take care of her Monroe, he then turned to me and smiled and said "blah blah blah, blah blah blah. I could tell you again, but I'm sure you know." I told him I was fine and laughed, then leaving him a tip and walking out.

It's been about a month and I moved three days after the piercings, so I haven't seen Jamie to know how hers is doing, but she tells me its great. Mine are doing just fine, I had to change the rings early because I got really sick and didn't want to risk infection, or making myself sick again. I recommend to anyone wanting a piercing that a lip piercing is a good one to have, it may be on your face and possibly make people look at you weird when you walk into a place, but its honestly my favourite of all the piercings I have. I plan to drive the 6 hours back when I decide to get my third lipring, because I've found someone I trust, which I hope all of you can too.
