I always liked the look of a cbr coiled around a lip. I had begged and begged my mom countless amounts of times to allow me to get my lip pierced and finally she gave in and said yes. On a pretty boring Sunday afternoon I was sleeping and was awoken by my mom. She was in a huge hurry and pulled me out of bed. She told me that I was going to get my lip pierced today and if I really wanted it I would get my butt out of bed, get dressed, and head out the door into the car. I got dressed faster than the Road Runner could run. I was so excited and happy.

I headed out the front door and got into my mom's car. Earlier we had an argument about which studio we were going to go to. Due to an age requirement that the one studio she wanted to go to, I could not go to it and I had won my battle to which studio we were going to go to. So my mom drove me to Future Tattoo & Body Piercing in Fullerton, California.

We parked and went into the studio. The place was clean and had couches and a black and white checkered tiled floor. Pictures of women were attached on the walls. Loud music blared from speakers and we were greeted by a very friendly guy named, Chris who so happened to be the body piercer. We told him what I was going to get pierced that day and he led me to the jewelry counter. I picked out a very cute 16G labret stud because at that time my mom did not approve of cbrs or horseshoes, so I had to go with that. It was the stud or no piercing at all.

I was taken to the piercing room and he sterilized the jewelry and went into the back to wash his hands. He came back, put on some gloves, and marked my lip. I think I had him remark it at least 5 times because I wanted it low and to the far side. Finally, he marked it at the perfect spot, got the clamps out and clamped my lip. The clamping did not hurt one bit. He was very gentle and careful with my lip. He grabbed the needle and my mom ran out of the room. She was afraid of watching because she was getting her nostril done that day and didn't want anything preventing her from getting it done.

He had me breathe in and then breathe out. When I breathed out, he pierced my lip. I'm not sure if he pierced it on the bottom - up or from top to bottom. Everything happened extremely quickly. The piercing itself didn't hurt too much. It was basically a lot of pressure and a tiny pinching sensation when the needle slid through my lip. Chris, the piercer inserted the 16G stud and tightened the back on it which hurt a bit more because he was tightening it on pretty tight.

After my piercing, I was done and my mom got her nostril pierced. I sat there watching her get it pierced and all of a sudden had a huge headache, saw spots, and the music blaring in the background became faded and I could barely hear it. I took a few deep breaths, left the piercing room, and sat myself on a couch. I felt a bit better after a few minutes and then soon rejoined my mom. We both got our aftercare sheets for our piercings and paid Chris and left.

Right after the car ride home, I ate a veggie burger from Burger King. It didn't bother my lip piercing at all. Not one bit. It started to swell a tiny bit after an hour and I took some Motrin Ibuprofen. It helped the swelling go down a tiny bit, not too much though. The aftercare was fairly simple... I washed with Dial Anti-Bacterial soap twice daily, which helped the piercing clean out bacteria and germs but it irritated my skin around the piercing and made it extremely dry. So I switched to saline solution and that made my skin better. I've been using saline solution for a while and it seems to work like a charm, so I won't be using Dial Anti-Bacterial soap ever again.

That piercing was done a month ago. I switched it to a cbr a week after I had the piercing done because the stud was on too tight. Two weeks after I switched it to a cbr I had it switched to a horseshoe because I found that the horseshoe looked a bit more feminine and my mom liked it more also. I will be keeping the horseshoe in for a very long time to give my lip a rest from all of the jewelry switching.
