I'd been wanting snakebites for awhile, almost a year. My best friend got them and I became jealous. I finally somehow was able to convince my mom to let me get them for my birthday. I ended up having to wait 2 months past my birthday to get them but it was well worth the wait because I am in love with them. To any person who is thinking about getting them, do it! They look good on most people and are easy to get, just make sure they're spaced properly.

I got there right on time, maybe even earlier than my appointment, and was welcomed by Shauna, the owner and piercer at Kirkland Skin Care. She made sure I wanted snakebites and that my mom was ok with it and then told me to sit down on the seat so I did. I lay back on the seat and I told her I wanted studs for my lip instead of rings. My only option that she had were small diamonds that looked too small to be seen in the lip or big studs with diamonds in them. I chose option 2 because I wanted ball studs, not diamonds. Shauna started to clean my lip outside and got her little purple marker to mark where the piercings would be placed. She made me look in the mirror after the first marking to make sure I approved. They were even, just way too close together so I made her move them apart so they were closer to the ends of my lip but not too close. She erased the old marks and marked again and made me go look in the mirror. This time they were just right where I wanted them to be, so she marked the inside of my lip so she could pierce it straight through and not accidentally off to an angle.
Now it was time for her to pierce and give me snakebites. She told me just how she'd do it; she'd insert the needle from inside out and the jewelry was in the needle so all she needed to do was screw on the ball. She told me it may hurt a bit, but my friends with lip rings all said it doesn't hurt. Either they must have lied or I have a low tolerance for pain because the first one hurt more than I expected it to. It wasn't a bad pain, it went away quickly but made my lip a bit sore afterwards. The second one hurt less and I was able to take it better and not close my eyes. The second one started to bleed though so Shauna had to take cleanser and wipe away the blood. When she pierced my lip she had to pull up my lip to make sure the needle went right where she wanted it to go and after the first piercing, her pulling up on my lip sort of was a bit sore but it was all worth it. Beauty is pain. She screwed on the little balls and checked them to make sure they were on and wouldn't fall off. Then she told me to go look in the mirror to make sure I thought they looked alright. I thought they looked really good and my mom just laughed.
The piercing was over and I was now the proud owner of snakebites. When I was all set to go, Shauna handed me a piercing aftercare sheet and a bottle of H2Ocean spray salt water cleanser. A friend told me to soak my lip in Epson salt a couple times a day to help heal and help the swelling. Shauna also told me if the swelling was big, to take Ibuprofen to reduce it. She told me if I ever wanted to down-size the balls on my studs, I could come back and she'd do it and she'd even put in rings if I changed my mind and wanted that. I thanked her and payed the money for them and left her shop. My bites cost about 80 dollars.
When I got home from my piercing my lips weren't swollen and weren't bleeding anymore. The only problem was they were a bit sore so I didn't want anything to touch them. I proceeded to clean them by soaking them with Epson salt and then spraying them with the H2Ocean cleanser. I was going to a show that night and was worried my lips would start to swell but they didn't luckily. That same week my lip started to swell and one side looked bruised but that was gone after a couple of days of soaking and cleansing, and my lips healed nicely. Now im thinking about changing them to rings.
