So I had been asking my mom to let me get my lip pierced for about two months. Finally, she agreed to let me have it done and oh man was I excited. I mean, it was something I had wanted to get done forever and ever. I was very excited over that.

My dad was a little mad that she had agreed to let me get it done, he's not into facial piercing.

She took me to a piercing place called "Flesh Mechanics" because they were the only place that would pierce someone under 16 even with parental permission.

So it was set. On Friday we went and had it done. I was so nervous that I nearly threw up. I was shaking I was really scared. I didn't even sleep the night before because I was too worried. The whole car ride my mom kept trying to convince me to get a tattoo instead of a lip ring. She thought the lip ring would make me look trashy. After I got the lip ring she decided that it actually looked nice on me.

I walked into the place with my mom and my friend. It was set up just like a car mechanic shop. It was pretty cool. This one guy was just sitting there getting a tattoo and as soon as you walk in everyone greets you. The only thing I didn't like was that you get pierced RIGHT in front of everyone in the whole place unless you're getting a piercing that you need to lay down for. Then you go in a back room.

The guy was really awesome who pierced me. He has his ears gauged, a lip ring and a nose ring. He made me feel really comfortable. The whole entire shop had a good feel too. They were on AIM, playing x-box, listening to music and swore a whole lot. He tried to flatter me and my friend by saying " Please refer us to any hot girls you guys have as friends. Usually hot girls have hot friends, so refer yours!"

So I sat down and the guy stopped playing x-box and got the needle out of a package and rolled it in antiseptic gel. Then he put on gloves and marked a purple spot on the right side of my lip. He could tell how nervous I was and he said, "If it makes you feel any better, he's a paramedic. He can hold your hand" I assured him I'd be alright. He then pulled out my lip with a clamp which did not hurt at all. Then he went "Are you ready?" and shoved the needle through. When he shoved the needle through, my whole body started shaking. It was not painful at all though. I mean, I KNEW the needle was there but there was not any pain. It kind of felt like a worm was crawling through my skin. Then he put the jewelry in and I also didn't feel that. And he was all done and showed me. I loved it! He then told me to stay sitting there and relax for a few minutes, just so I didn't pass out or anything.

I figured it was going to hurt very badly considering they're impaling a needle through your body. I was also shocked when he didn't use freeze spray or ice on me. I figured he would but I guess I didn't need it.

So he gave me the aftercare directions which were to rinse my mouth with Listerine every time I eat or drink anything for the next two weeks, which is a pain. I also had to put bacatracin on the outside three times a day and wash it with dial soap. Be sure to actually clean it and do everything, the last thing you'd want would be an infection.

Finally my mom paid him the 45 dollars and gave him a 10 dollar tip and we were out of there. He told me in six weeks he'd change the ring if I wasn't comfortable doing it myself, free of charge.

Everyone has been telling me how much they want a lip ring now and how lucky I am that my parents let me get one. I haven't heard anyone tell me it looked bad on me at all. I really like it. I've felt no pain yet, thank God. I was worried about the swelling or pulling it out at night but that never happened.

Overall, if you want a lip piercing, get it. I have no pain tolerance and this didn't even phase me. I'm still in no pain and didn't swell. I read a lot of stories on here and some of them comforted me a lot. I hope my story convinces you to get one and realize it's so worth it and painless.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help you guys out!
