My next piercing was to be my scrumper, AKA smiley. I prefer to call it a smiley, because scrumper sounds vaguely dirty to me. I digress, but so does conch, every non-pierced person I tell about my conch, looks immediately at my crotch and makes some sort of comment about how I'm only sixteen!

I wanted the piercing to be done with a CBR that had a cute little jewel, I had fallen in love with the ring and wanted it badly, but Julia said that it wasn't surgical stainless steel, titanium, or any other material safe to be pierced with, but I could stop in and get her to change it for me whenever I wanted to, after it healed. Another reason I could not get a CBR was again my dad, who I have to hide this piercing from for a week, until I go back home. Oh, anti piercing parents and their views on pierced people... My dad told me that my nose ring (pierced with a CBR) made me look like a cow! Not my septum, but my nostril!

I should add that I was one of the anti-smiley crowd, calling the piercing stupid and unneccessary until recently, after reading almost every experience on BME and looking at pictures, the picture that turned me into a fan was a girl with lovely straight teeth, and a CBR with a blue gem in it. That's the reason I wanted a CBR with a gem, but I think I would opt for a pink one to match my nipple rings! Also, I realized that for someone with a passion for a certain piercing, it really is necessary for them to have that metal through their skin.

I had read in an experience that someone else wrote, that someone with crooked teeth shouldn't get a smiley piercing, because it emphasizes the unevenness of the teeth. I agree with whoever that was, looking at pictures, smileys really do only look good on those of us with straight teeth. I'm so glad I have straight teeth so I could get this beautiful piercing.

Julia picked a curved barbell for me, after making sure my scrumper was defined enough to be pierced with a barbell. I think it's a 16 gauge but I can't be sure. She told Brett that he would have to hold my lip up, and made him wash his hands, as well as gave him gloves. Since Brett and I are very close, he didn't mind, though we did exchange a look of horror when she told him. Though he wouldn't have cross-contaminated anything without gloves on, I'm glad he had to wear them, and I'm sure he is as well, because holding someone's upper lip up with no gloves on would be pretty revolting, I don't even want to grab and hold my own lip up.

I had to lay down again on the oh so comfy dentist slash piercing chair which does relax me, I would sleep on one of those if I had the chance! Brett held my lip up the way Julia showed him to. Again, she didn't tell me to breathe in or our, she just stuck the needle in and through. It was an easy piercing, the needle went through like a hot knife through butter. I whimpered a second before she pierced, and she comforted me by telling me that it was over the second she finished. I don't think she corked it this time, because there would be no chance of it stabbing my lip or gum unless Brett let my lip go and it snapped down. She got the barbell and again, we had an awkward moment of Julia's hands in my mouth, screwing the bead on, which was uncomfortable, and I whimpered a bit, but there was no pain really.

I smiled at myself in the mirror, and the barbell kind of slides down sometimes and exposes itself, but I think I can keep it hidden pretty well. I can feel the piercing, and am extremely aware that it's in my mouth. I think I can talk normally, I could in the car on the way home, but haven't had the chance to speak out loud in the past twenty-some minutes, so I wonder... I love that it is hidden right now, and is Brett, Julia and my little secret, which I have now let all you BME readers in on! Please don't tell my daddy!

Brett's piercer told him it was a myth that you can't have beer, bread or dairy products during the healing period of an oral piercing because it will give you an oral yeast infection, but I think I'll avoid them anyway, just so I feel safe.

Again, aftercare involves rinsing with either the saline solution of 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to a cup of distilled water, Tech 2000, or alcohol free mouthwash. I will be using alcohol free Oral B, as it is what I used for my tongue ring, is healed and looks awesome.
