I've wanted my lip done since I was about 15. I remember always admiring anyone who had it done and also being very much attracted to guys with the same. But I was always told definitely not! So now I'm 18 I thought, why the hell not? To be honest there was nothing they could do about it. So after leaving the house the night before with another, "definitely not" and a threat of being kicked out I thought I should.

When I was 16 I still wasn't allowed to have my lip pierced so settled for getting my nose done. My mum took me to bloodline, which as scary as it sounds it really quite pleasant. There are pictures all over the walls of tattoos, and red swing doors leading into each different room. Tony the owner and piercer, was a friendly guy, not your usual burly looking kind covered in piercings. He kept it simple with just his nose piercing; I think he's more into tattoos by the look of his arms.

Id taken my friend with me as no matter how much I told everyone it didn't bother me, I was a little scared. There was a tinny snigger as we walked through the sex shop part, but all in all I think we kept it together. Tony took us into a small room, everything looked clean and tidy, medical kit on the wall, which was handy, I guess, a sink and the equipment he was about to use all laid out nicely and sealed in its packets, always something to look out for!

He patted the end of the bed and I hoped up as my friend sat in the spare seat in the corner. He asked where I wanted the piercing, I shyly pointed to my bottom lip on my right side (I'd wanted it opposite to my nose piercing). He drew a little dot on and held up a mirror, I gave him the thumbs up and it was decided. If I'm totally honest I was getting the guts up to tell him it was to low, or too high, but as with my nose piercing he new the best spot to put it. I was asked to swill some yellowish stuff to numb my lip, if I'm honest it felt like my tongue was the only thing that got numbed, he said this was pretty normal. He cracked a joke about the length of my earrings, and as un-funny as it was, this kina relaxed me a little. I spat into the sink next to me and it was now or never.

He asked me to tilt my head back a little and open my mouth so he could clamp my lip. He gently pulled my lip and clamped it. Everyone says this bit hurts more, but I could hardly feel it. He then asked me to close my eyes and take a deep breath. As I did so I felt it go through. None of this I could feel it going through the layers of skin stuff. It was just a quick sharp hot pain; it did hurt a bit I'm not going to lie. I felt my lip hanging a bit as he left the needle in it and got the jewellery, he put the bar through (I'd opted for the bar as I don't think I could pull off a ring), this hurt a bit too, but like I said, it was just some pain in my lip, tightened the ball, And then everything was done! I was given my care instructions, salt water a couple of times a day, and told to come back in two weeks to get the bar changed for a smaller one.

I walked out with a little grin on my face, was too fresh to be beaming big time yet. I got a tiny bit of, what I can only think of as a pressure bruise around the piercing where I think the clamps were clamping a little too much, but I've been assured they will fade away within in a few days. I had trouble eating that day as I found the bar kept catching on my teeth, not to pleasant, but I had no problems drinking!

My only real problem so far came the morning after. I woke up and forgot id had it done and wiped my face. Needles to say there was a fair bit of swearing but luckily no damage, other than my pretty massively inflamed lip! I looked like id had collagen injected into my bottom lip, which was quite funny as my top lip still looked normal, and I don't have the thickest lips in the world. Luckily the swelling went down within a few hours and it was back to healing.

Two days on, it's still a little sore, but the swelling has almost gone down compleatly already and I love it! Sorry dad, this ones staying!
