Studio Piercied up
Location Bristol
I had been thinking about getting a piercing in my lip for quiet a while, i have already got my tragus, two in my nose, belly button and flesh tunnels in my ears, but its like an addiction, I just seem to keep wanting more!

I decided to get my lip done, on Saturday in a studio in Bristol, it was because I was back to university as well as my parents would see it for a good month or so, I read reviews on them, and everyone had said they were the best and cleanest place in Bristol to go! so my friend went up and had a look, said it seem really professional and clean, so we decided to go there, she was getting her nose done at the same time!

I went in and signed the release form so they could pierce me, they were really strict on ID, which is good, shows a place is not dirty, I always think, I had my drivers license but they made Jess go and get hers, I cost £30 which is more expensive than most places, but I didn't mind seen as it was my first oral piercing, and they were really good with telling me how to look after it, and telling me if i had any problems to come straight back because most the time the just want to pierce you and not see you again, also in £30 they downsize the bar for you, which is awesome.

I sat and waited, and got pretty scared, but I always do before a piercing, maybe you always do no matter how many you've had? so I got called in and dragged my friend in with me to watch, I sat in the chair and talked to him about what I wanted and the different ways a piercing heals with the different types of jewellery, like a ring or labret, i went for the labret bar, because loads and loads of people in Bristol have rings in their lips, and i wanted to be slightly different.

He put the dot on, and I had it moved up a bit but still, I chose it a bit further down my face as well so it wouldn't bang my teeth quiet so badly, and also so it didn't indent into my lip, so its in-between a lip and labret.

I sat in the chair and he clamped my lip, told me to breath in then breath out, then placed the needle through, it didn't hurt that much, I mean I hate when people ask is it going to hurt, of course it is, its a needle going through your mouth! But I was expecting way more pain than I felt! It bled a bit, but I think this was mostly due to the fact Id got quiet drunk the night before, and drink, well thins the blood, apparently I looked like I was in a vampire movie which was nice to know. When he went to put the jewellery in the bar went in then shot itself back out, when he was trying to attach the ball, my mouth had already decided it didn't like it, so he changed his gloves and stuck something through the hole to keep it from closing and put the bar through again, he said it was strange and hadn't happened before, and could also be due to the fact id drunk the night before, so moral of the story is kids don't drink before getting a oral piercing! But it went back in fine, and the ball screwed on and I was cleaned up and it didn't feel too painful, it was pretty swollen though!

Then he told me how too look after it, what to avoid eating, and what to clean with, and to rinse my mouth every time I ate and such like, I walked out of the room feeling pretty pleased with myself, but a bit shaky. The lady gave me a leaflet on looking after it, told me to come back any time if there was any problems at all, which put me at ease, and also told me id have to come back for them to down size my jewellery, after the swelling had gone right down which I though was awesome, because most places just leave you to do it yourself!

But all in all 48 hours later and its not too swollen, its not painful to smoke or drink, eating's been a bit weird but its getting better, the bar because of the size slips over you teeth or you kind of bite it, but like i said i am getting used to it! I've been rinsing after every smoke, meal and drink, so being pretty good, and it seems fine so far. I cleaned it this morning with a salt rinse, mouthwash, and some hot salted water on the front. So anyone that wants it done, go for it, it doesn't hurt much, and it looks great...
