Oh god.

I`d been drooling over medusas for months and figured now was the time. I got paid this morning, and decided that my best friend and I needed to get pierced. Being the generous lady I am, I paid for her piercing as well, a septum.
We got quite excited once we decided to go get pierced, she moreso than I(seeing as she only had 1 non-ear piercing and I had 8).
I decided to head to my usual studio, Adrenaline. I`d gotten three peircings there by Erin and they were all great. However when I got there, Erin wasn`t there.. so I figured the other guy that worked there would do a fine job. That was a mistake.
We filled out the forms and waited for a couple seconds as he performed an ear piercing on a girl, then it was out turn. My friend decided I had to go first.
He marked the piercing a couple times until it was about where I wanted - I thought it was still a little crooked, but him and my friend told me it was fine, so I decided to just get it over with.
He had me lie down and clamped my upper lip. I`m not going to lie - this piercing REALLY hurt. It was on par with my nipples and septum. The jewelry insertion was uncomfortable.. this guy was NOT gentle.
I got up and had a look and -oh- the bead was HUGE, not the dainty little thing i`d imagined. I asked him to change it.. and for some reason he decided to change the whole barbell. I figured that would be fine, but little did I know..
He couldn`t get the new one in. He stuck some thing through the top of the piercing but couldnt get the jewelry up through the bottom, so.. there goes the needle again. It hurt even more the second time. So did the jewelry insertion. Finally, it was over.. When I sat up and looked in the mirror, it looked great - though, it was kind of crooked, but I thought maybe I was still imagining it. The bar was pretty short, I figured the piercing would swell a lot (and he said it would) and there was only half a centimetre to spare.. He said it would probably be ok, and to come back if it was too swollen.
Then my best friend got pierced, i`m not going to get into that, let`s just say she was a bit of a wimp and totally freaked and screamed but now she has a beautiful little CBB in her septum.
I paid for the both of us and left a hefty(considering how much money i make) and probably undeserved 10 dollar tip, and made the trek back home.
Boy did my medusa ever swell. I looked (and still look) like a duck.
A few hours later, I was in some pain. I had a look in the mirror, and the barbell was obviously too short. I had plans to go back downtown with my friend, and thank god I did. I went back to Adrenaline, and Erin was there. She replaced the barbell with the longest one they had, free of charge, and let me keep the shorter one for when the piercing heals (they don`t downsize them for you like a lot of places do, they make you pay $35 bucks for the new jewelry)
Erin was so gentle compared to that fellow that pierced me, I could hardly even feel it go in. She said she got jewelry too short when she got her medusa pierced and went through the same pain, she said she really understood how I felt.
I`m really glad she was there when I went back. I`m going to continue going to Adrenaline, but I`m only going to get pierced by Erin, letting that other guy do my medusa was a baaaaad idea.
My mouth is sore, and very swollen. Hopefully the swelling will go down a little by tomorrow, and be less painful, but I`m really not surprised that it`s this sore right now considering all the trauma its been through.
Even though my upper lip is huge and I look like a duck, this is still the most beautiful piercing I`ve ever had, albeit one of the most painful. It`s worth the pain, of course. Hopefully it`ll be ok, im still paranoid that it`s too swollen and the back of the jewelry will get embedded into my upper lip and have to get scalpeled out.. but um, I should try to look on the bright side. It`s beautiful. And it will probably be fine tomorrow.
Next in line, vertical labret, and i`m definitely going to make sure Erin does it.
