After my nose piercing I felt that I needed some more facial holes. It was during the summer and my mum had given me £120 to last until the end of it. Me and money do don't go to well together, well we do but then I spend it. Anyway, one day I was in town and I suddenly had the urge to get my lip pierced. I had the money but I was only 15. There was a place on the other side of town that had done my friends piercing and didn't ask for ID and they were a year younger than me. I dragged a friend down and asked if I could get it done. They ID'd me. I was well annoyed! I guess it was because one of my friend's parents had dragged a story to the papers and they were being more cautious.

About a week after, I dragged my friend down to Belfast tried three places and got rejected by them all! I feel sorry for my friend, I think I annoyed her but I was seething!

I thought through my strategies and phoned up my friend Ashley. She said she would come down and we could try another place in Bangor that I hadn't tried yet because to be honest I had heard they weren't that good and I didn't like them much. Needless to say we went down and I got ID and it went ahead. My friend Lyndsy actually came in the room with me. She wanted a Madonna but I put her off it getting her to watch me getting pierced!!

The room was really clean and I felt comfortable and at ease in it. I take back what I thought about them. The woman turned out to be lovely although I was a tad apprehensive when I saw her manicured talons near my face! Ha-ha I picked out a simple stud for my lip and I showed her where I wanted the piercing to be. She marked it to my liking and got me to lie down on the reclining chair. I got my friend Lyndsy to hold my hand although afterwards I realised I didn't need to.

I felt a little scared as my nose had hurt quite a bit but I knew my lip tissue was much softer and my friends had said it was a breeze getting it done. The woman was also very reassuring about the whole thing.

I closed my eyes before she pierced me. My lip was clamped around the mark and the needle went in. it was a nice feeling, quick and pretty much painless, just a tiny sting for a second. She told me it was all over and I let go of Lyndsy's hand and did a half smile because of the clamp in my mouth. I hadn't expected it to be over so quickly! She slid the needle out and had the plastic tubing sitting in while she got the stud. She popped the bar in, and while she was doing this I opened my eyes and was quite unnerved when I saw her blood covered fingers but thought it looked pretty cool! She slid the tube out and screwed the ball on the bar (she even said it was a little hard because of her nails) she cleaned around the stud with a cotton bud then sent me to look in the mirror. It was perfect!!

She gave me the aftercare solution and told me to dab a bit around it twice a day. We left the room and with most of my piercing I almost forgot to pay but my friends reminded me. I paid and thanked the woman and left the building feeling exhilarated.

I was so happy but I couldn't really smile. I felt like I was going to burst with the feeling! I'm not sure if it was the best idea but I went swimming straight afterward. I refused to put my head under water just incase but of course it got wet anyway. Luckily it felt fine when I got out and dry.

About two weeks later the ball fell of the end. No one had told me to keep screwing it on whenever it was cleaned and I only had a hoop which was a bit thick for it but it got it shoved in and the ball placed in it after much struggling. My lip was still swollen so I couldn't smile or laugh for a while but I bought a new bar a few days after. It's been about 2 year's since I got it done and now I can leave it out for long periods of time and it wont close over. Its one of my favourite piercings and I'm hopefully going to get a vertical labret done soon.

I would recommend this piercing to everyone that is thinking of getting it done. Remember, when cleaning the ball can get loose. Give it a tightening after each clean and you'll save a lot on jewellery!
