Well it has been five years since the last time I had gotten a piercing. For the longest time I didn't want to get a piercing that was visable because I was too worried about what my family would think or say. I've been playing with the idea of getting some more piercings alot the past few months I just didn't know what I wanted to get first yet so I proceeded to ask some friends what they thought would be a good piercing. I got some good ideas from them ranging from ears to scrotal piercings. So I decided to get my labret pierced.

After calling around to get some prices I found the cheapest place that had the best rep. I've known a lot of people to go to Blackhole and I knew that they were well respected. I waited until I had the spare cash to go in and finally the day came. A friend and I went in and looked around at first, as the cashier was dealing with another customer. We sat on the bench and waited for her to finish up by this time I was very suprised that I still wasn't nervous about getting a needle shoved through my lip. She finished up with the customers and greeted us asking what she could do for us. I told her with out a problem that I wanted to get my labret pierced. So she gave me the paper work and I filled it out, I hadn't eaten all day so she told me that I would have to go get something to eat before we proceeded with the piercing. I went to go get something to eat, came back, and sat back down on the bench waiting for Brain to be finished with the couple before me.

The couple came down the stairs happy with their new piercing. Brain stood at the top of the stairs and called me up. Now I was starting to get a little nervous because I knew that I was going to actually do this. I sat down in the big hospital type chair and watched as he prepared everything. I watched him grab the jewelry and open up the piercing needle out of the new package, he washed his hands and put gloves on. We talked for a minute just making small conversation as he cleaned below my lip with an alcohol wipe and then out came the purple pen as he marked a dot below my lip. He repeated this a couple of times to get it perfect and then he had me look at it in the mirror to see if I thought it was good and it was. He then took gauze and placed it on the inside of my lip. He then grabbed the 14g needle with the solution on it and placed it up to my lip lining everything up. He quickly gave a warning and said, "Here we go". A quick sharp pain and then it was done. He grabbed the jewelry and followed it through and it was all done. I got up and looked in the mirror and loved it, it felt kind of strange at first because I had a foreign object in my lip.

Brain told me not to drink or smoke the first couple of weeks so it would heal right, but that's no problem considering that I don't smoke and didn't plan on drinking anytime soon. I said thanks and went downstairs to pay. The lady at the front desk gave me instructions on how to take care of it until it was healed then she threw me a little bag of salt so I could do warm salt water soaks. I payed then I was on my way to go show off my new mod.

I didn't eat that first night because I didn't want to get the ring caught in my teeth. The first week I did warm salt water soaks twice a day and rinsed my mouth out with mouth wash twice a day. The next week I did warm salt water soaks once a day and rinsed my mouth out with mouth wash twice a day. I'm going into my third week of having it and I still love it. I can eat just fine without any problems and I get to go down size it this weekend, if I even need to. I suggest if you want to get a piercing go for it no matter what it is. Do some research on the piercing and then go get it done. BME is a very good place to start with getting information on piercings. This is where I have gotten all of my information from and I feel that I was educated well. If you are ever in Portland I recommend you go to Blackhole they have a good clean rep.
