Well, my family, and I got to talking about piercings, and my mom brought up that I wanted a nose stud (which I had changed my mind, and decided to get a plain ole labret) and she said I could get it if my dad agreed to it.
We got to talking and he said I could get it, if that was what I wished. So being me, I agreed and was overflowing with pure happiness and excitement. When we got home my mom called John up and told him the story. Since he was leaving early that day (since it was a Friday he was taking his kids to the movies) he couldn't poke me, but he said to come early the next morning and he will do it. I couldn't wait.
February 7, 2003- Saturday(the next day)
I got up ealry that morning and well I woke the rest of my family up. So we took a small road trip to Milton, since we lived in Pensacola. We first stopped at a car shop which was next to John's. My parents went in to the autoshop and got the windshield whipers they needed to match the blue car. Then before you know it my parents were finished purchasing what they needed to get and,"BAM!" we were at John's.
I told John what I wanted, a vertical labret. He said he doesn't do those so I just went with the plain labret. I wasn't nervous at all, just excited. He said he would get the stuff together then go outside and get a quick draw of smoke. He did so and came back. He first told me to rinse my mouth out with listerine I did so, and then he marked the spot on my mouth/lip. I checked and said, "That's good." He told me to sit in this dentist-like chair, where he then applied the clamps, and I asked, "Is this suppose to hurt?", and John said,"Yes, and why does it?", and I replied,"Nope." John then told me to hold my breath and we he counted to three to let it out. On three he pierced my lip with the needle. I felt a sharp pain in my lip but it didn't hurt at all. He put the jewelry in after all the needle went all the way out. I instantly stood up and looked in the mirror. I was shining so to say. (sorry that I sound bubbly I do not mean to)
He told me to rinse my mouth out with sea salt when I ate or drank anything except for water. He also gave me this sheet thingy of rules and guidelines to follow. I paid him my fourty dollars and was one my way. I kept messing with it though 'cause it was all new and stuff. My tongue kept circling the back of the piercing which is just a plain metal circle.
When Monday came, which was a school day, I went to school and well everyone said it looked good on me and was rad looking. I had to tell my story to almost everyone, and got a few, "Did it hurt." "What did it feel like?" My seventh period Earth, Space, and Science teacher even joked on me about it, saying, "You got a bullet stuck in your lip/chin/mouth." lol it was great. I enjoyed the attention, and I actually started a trend at school. A lot of people fell in my footsteps.
A couple of months later, I had a problem. I had this bubble thingy sticking out covering most of my piercing. It was my skin, but it still had puss coming out. I visited a site and tried everything to get rid of it...aspirin, some herbal tea stuff with leaves in it. Turns out nothing really helped. SO I visited John, and he said it was nothing but scar tissue...I figured it was my piercing since he pierced it crooked, but all was well.
It's been over 9 months since my piercing. I had no problems with the swelling at all, though I did have some scar tissue showing. All in all I would advise everyone to get a labret piercing. It was wonderful and I would do it again if I could. I would also recommend it to anyone that wanted one, and I would also recommend John, (my piercer) to all the Milton, Pace, and Pensacola people. To me, you experience less pain, and etc. than a cartilage piercing. Plus it's easy to clean and take care of as well as it hardly gets infected.
