Ok I would just like to start off with telling everyone that it is not a good idea to do any do it yourself piercings. There are a lot of risks that can happen. I guess I would just call myself lucky, seeing how everything is going good right now.

I have been wanting to get another piercing for awhile now. Only thing is, I do not have much money right now, times are tight. I look through BME religiously all the time. I had seen scrumpers, and thought they looked pretty cool, but not for me. Then I started thinking that it would be one of the easiest do it yourself piercings not to mess up on.

I read up on the piercing itself, and aftercare, and possible effects. I read everything that could go wrong, and what to look out for, and what you are supposed to do. So I was ready.!

So I was sitting at home one night, and figured I was going to pierce my scrumper. I got one large safety pin, my trusty mirror, a barbell, and some Listerine. I took my safety pin, and barbel and boiled them in hot water for about half an hour.

I rinsed with Listerine for a minute, which helped numb my mouth completely. Washed my hands with hot water and soap. Then I sat down and mapped out where I was going to stick it. I really knew that it wouldn't matter where I wanted it to be, it was just going to be luck because I had no clamps.

So anyways, by this time, my friend had come over to watch me get it done. She thought i was crazy. I think she told me over 100 times that I was crazy and it would get infected... I have great friends who support me.. don't you think so? So I took the needle, and started to push it through (Very hard to pierce a scrumper and hold your lip up and, at the same time being able to look at yourself in the mirror) So I was pushing and to my surprise I couldn't even feel it, but it was really hard to get through that tiny piece of skin. I pushed for about 5 minutes.. FINALLY it went through. I was so happy that I smiled which lead to poking myself in the gum and cheek with the safety pin.

I re-washed my hands with the safety pin still in, hoping to help the whole stay open just a little bit longer, incase it took awhile to get the jewelry in. So I sat back down, and took the safety pin out. Here comes the hard part.

I pierced myself probably with an 18 gauge safety pin. My barbel was a 16 gauge. I messed with it for awhile but it wasn't going anywhere, and I could tell that my whole was closing up. So I put the safety pin back through to keep it opened, and started to boil water again. I sterilized a hoop earring that I have. Got back to the mirror, took out the safety pin again, and started to try it.. it was hard to see the whole, but my friend pulled my lip up for me, which made it easier, and I got the hoop through.

I rinsed out with Listerine again.. which I think was the worst part because I had cuts in my mouth.. wasn't thinking when I did it. I looked in the mirror, and it was perfectly straight.!!

It was a little sore that night.. but nothing much. So the next day I woke up, brushed the ring, and used half and half Listerine/water mixture. All was well, went to work, nobody notice unless I showed them.

The next day same routine.. brush and rinse.. and I brushed and rinsed after eating or drinking anything other then water.. just to be sure not to get infection. It has now been 9 days and my piercing is great.

I cant wait to go get another ring for it. I am hoping to be able to stretch it out just a bit, maybe to a 16 or 14 gauge. I want to get a captive ring for it. Right now, I have a small hoop in, and it is kind of irritating on my gums, because that is where it rests. I think that irritation will be gone when I get a new ring for it.

If anyone wants a scrumper, get it done. Its worth it, I think its the least painful of piercings there are, and I bet it would be even more painless if you got it done professionally. Don't pierce yourself unless you know what you are doing and you know of the risks, and after care and everything.. If anyone has any questions or anything, id be glad to chat.

Have Fun. And happy piercing!!!!
