I have been fascinated in piercing for a long time, but only in the last 9 months I have started to get my own, but unfortunately have also taken the majority of them out, these include eyebrow, tongue, industrial, vertical tragus...you get the point.

Before I met my current boyfriend, I was looking into getting my labret done, doing research on the net and stuff, but didn't pursue it any further when I got with him, as he's not really into piercing. But lately I have been getting the itch (we all know what that's like!)and my mind has been set on the labret.

It's my little brothers birthday in a week so, and he wanted a piercing so I said I'd pay for him to get his tragus pierced, being the kind older sister I am! I went and made the appointment for him at my favourite local piercing place, and thought 'bugger it, I want to get my labret done' they weren't busy so I asked if I could get my labret done straight away and my piercer said it was fine, yay!

Here in Australia, there are no law restrictions on the age at which you can get piercing (except when I was 13 I wanted the top of my ear pierced but the lady I went to wouldn't because I needed an older guardian there, so who knows what the law is here?!) anyways there were no problems there, plus I've been to this place a number of times beforehand, and I've never had to fill out any forms that others talk about having to fill, so we went straight into the room out the back, and I sat on the high bed thing.

Last time I was there I had just got a new mobile and was trying to figure out, and since then my piercer had gotten the same one, so we were talking the games and how cool the camera was etc while she got all the equipment ready.

I was slightly nervous by now, none of my other piercing hurt really, (except my industrial, that hurt like hell!) but for some reason I thought that getting my labret pierced would absolutely cane, and the adrenaline was pumping.

I told my piercer I wanted it placed fairly low on my chin, as I didn't want it to sit right under my lip as some people have it, but I forgot to tell her I also wanted a really small one too, I'm not to keen on those bigger ones, but I forgot to tell her.

She marked my chin and I was happy with the placement so I lie down and put my hands underneath me. My lip was clamped and I saw the needle coming towards me, my heart beat quicker, I felt a little prick, and I remember thinking 'ok that was the easy bit, get ready for it to tear and hurt like hell' but the needle was already through and the piercer was already starting to thread the bar through. It was over before I knew it and it didn't hurt at all, nothing like I was expecting! And no blood either.

I sat up and looked in the mirror, and was extremely happy with what I saw, my piercer told me to wash my mouth out with warm salty water 3 times a day, the same as when I got my tongue done, and to clean the outside with a cotton bud dipped in the salt water. She also said that she had chosen the smaller sized jewellery as she thought it looked better on females, so it wasn't so bad that I forgot to tell her!

I went out the front and paid my $59 (Aussie dollars) and left as a very happy customer, as usual!

I had some biscuits about an hour after the piercing, and was able to eat them fine; it was a little strange at first, because I could feel the plate against my gums.

It has been a couple days now, and it has swelled a bit, but it's not noticeable at all, there has been no trouble with it whatsoever. Sometimes I do get a bit of crusty stuff on the outside, but that's no worries at all.

My boyfriend has been away at trade school for the week, so I wonder what he'll think when he gets back! Hehehe

Because I hadn't told anyone I was actually getting the piercing (well I didn't have time, and I prefer to go alone, or have jess with me but she had places to go that day anyway)it's been a surprise for everyone, and I wont lie, having the attention is quite fun!

I highly recommend this piercing, and my piercer is great!
