I had waited all summer to be liberated from the restraints that my occupational position for the summer as a secretary in a professional setting was over. So I could get started on the facial piercings that I have been wanting for quite sometime. I had not been able to fill the void that my retired off-center lip piercing left upon it's removal. So, needless to say, when I had the urge to quit my summer job a few weeks early, due to unrelated circumstances, I was thrilled that I would be able to finish up my summer with a lovely off-center lip piercing!
At A Glance Author Dawn Contact Dawn@bme.anon IAM Dawnie When It just happened Artist Casper Studio Lambadi City Location Fairfield, OH As I mentioned above, I had in the past had my lip pierced, therefore, I still had the jewelry that was used, and was able to save a little bit of money by re-using the jewelry in my new piercing. I took the jewelry to my piercer, Casper, whom works at the lovely Lambadi City in Fairfield, Ohio. He has done many piercings on me in the past years, so I am no stranger to going in and being pierced by this skilled piercer!
When I entered the shop, it was nice to see the familiar faces of my tattoo artists, and my piercer, Casper. I hadn't been in the shop for a couple of months, so there were slight alterations in the shops appearance, all which were visually pleasant. I will also mention now, that the shop was in it's usual tip-top condition, in other words, it was a totally clean, sterile and safe atmosphere!
When Casper was done with some other clients who had entered before me, I greeted him, and told him I wanted my lip re-pierced off center (my first lip piercing experience can be found on BME as well). He then checked out my jewelry I had brought and then we went back to the piercing room, which I was also very familiar with. However, before I entered the piercing room, I swished around some mouthwash for a minute, spit it out in the sink, and then headed to the room.
Before Casper could even tell me to have a seat, I sat down on the piercing chair, and made myself at home. It was pretty much routine, so I was extremely comfortable. Casper then sterilized my surgical steel cbr I had brought. He set up his piercing tray, complete with clamps, a sterilizing swab, a 14 gauge needle, and ring opening and closing pliers (all of which I watched him take out of sterile packages just as the usual procedure entails).
Casper then marked the spot to be pierced on my lip, and had me okay it in the mirror. I was fine with the placement, and then sat back upon the chair. He then cleaned the area and put lubricant on the needle. He placed the clamps firmly upon my lips and lined up the needle with the marking. He the cited his usual "Okay, now take a deep breath in and exhale", I did just that and I felt the needle penetrate my skin, and in a second it was through my lip. Casper then quickly removed the needle and slid in the cbr. He put the ball in place and close the ring. I then looked at my beautiful new lip ring in the mirror and smiled. It was slightly sore if I pressed on it with my tongue, but there was no substantial pain to say the least.
I then walked to the front of the shop with Casper and paid him and thanked him for the lovely job done! I also of course, tipped him before I left! I left the shop with a smile upon my face and a lovely lip ring accompanying my smile!
I was surprised the night my lip was pierced that I only noticed a slight discomfort, and a little soreness upon cleaning it. The first time I had my lip pierced I had a bit more soreness and awkwardness with getting used to it, but I assume since it was a piercing I had all ready had before, it was just normal that having it came as sort of a second nature to me!
I woke up the next morning to minimal crusting on the outside of the piercing, which I removed with warm water and a q-tip, being very careful not to push any of the crusties into the piercing hole to avoid the irritation that could cause. I also noted that my lip was not swollen, nor was any of the bruising that I woke up with after my first lip piercing present! I was quite satisfied with the result of the piercing!
It is now two days after the piercing and the piercing is still slightly irritated and has some minimal crusting. The healing seems to be going well so far, I am cleaning the outside with dial anti-bacterial soap, and to clean the inside I am using Biotene mouth wash. I know many people have different methods of caring for their piercings, however this method seems to work well for me!
