I was driving around with my best friend after picking up my last check from work and out of nowhere, I decided I wanted to get a piercing. I wasn't sure exactly what it was that I wanted to have done, but I had the piercing itch and I really wanted to scratch it. Kali (my best friend in the car with me) decided she wanted a piercing as well. After a few minutes of driving around, we both decided we wanted our lips done. She works for the LAX airport, so she was kind of iffy about the whole situation. She decided to do it anyway and just cover it with a band-aide. I was excited. I was finally going to get another piercing. I've had my tongue pierced for about a month and a half and I was about due for another. I wanted to go to Vince (the guy who pierced my tongue) but there was a buy one-get-one-free type thing at the place where Kali wanted to go, so we went there. We paid $25 dollars each, cause we tipped the guy 10 dollars.

On the way to the shop, we were both getting really nervous so we blasted some Insane Clown Posse to calm us down. We smoked I think 3 cigarettes before we walked in and told the guy we wanted our lips pierced. He said he was going to sterilize everything and then he'd call us back. About 10 minutes later he told us we could go back and Kali made me go first. I sat in the chair and was just calmly looking around, watching him do his thing, and being very quiet. The piercer was talking to Kali and I was listening to what she was saying. He cleaned the area and marked where he was going to pierce it and I said it looked good. He put the clamps on and I didn't think they were uncomfortable at all. I felt the needle poke at my lip for a second and he stopped for a second so I thought he was going to move it, but nope. I was pierced. I didn't even flinch, Kali said. I closed my eyes when he put the ring in because it was a little tender. I was in shock, so I kept spac ing out and was acting really weird.

It was Kali's turn and she kept asking me if it hurt and I said "Not really." And it really didn't. It's one of those things where it hurts at the time but you forget about how it hurt later on. The piercer pierced her and he screwed the ball on her stud and we paid and left. I kept looking in the mirror in the car and admiring my new face metal. I got a few random looks from people on the street and I loved it. Kali and I went to a pizza place to show our piercings off to everybody and the boy I like was all.. "Wow.. that looks really great on you." It made me feel good. Piercings make me feel more confident and I absolutely love it.

It's been about 4 or 5 days and it's really swollen and tender right now. There's a little white bump on the inside of my lip where the piercing sits and I'm wondering if that's normal or not? I've been cleaning it a lot and I keep doing a salt water soak and mouth washing after anything touches my lips. I'm really happy with it and I can't wait until it's fully healed! Right now I'm sick with a cold so I think that's making the healing process a lot more sucky but it's okay. My parents are cool with it and they always make fun of me now. They were kind of pissed in the beginning but they're over it now. It's kind of hard to eat, but that's okay. I just learned to eat really slowly and not to chew up a storm cause I bit the ring once and it wasn't pleasant. I found that drinking cold water and eating ice cream and other cold things like that are really good and help the soreness a lot.

I think my next piercing will be my eyebrow. Or maybe I'll take a break from piercings and get a tattoo. Wow I don't know. I'm a freak and I'm always down for whatever so... we'll see!! I'm really itching to get my nipples pierced. I want so many tattoos and piercings, I'll probably be in debt by the time I'm 22.

My advice to you is that if you want to get a piercing, do it! And make sure you take care of it. But beware, piercings are addicting and you won't stop at just one. =)
