It seems everyone's story starts out with " Well for the longest time I've liked such and such piercing" which gets a little old. So I won't tell you my personal opinion etc on the Monroe piercing, but more of the important information people interested in this piercing should know.

Well it all starts exactly a month before my birthday, I decided my nose ring was trendy and old (I have had it for 4 years) and I needed a new facial piercing. I chose the Monroe. I decided my 17th birthday would be a great day and a great present from myself. I waited with anticipation for a month, and boy did it go by slow. But finally the day had come! October 10th was here and therefore the day I get my Monroe pierced had come! I skipped the day at school, and me and my best bud Jillian picked up her Van so I could go get pierced in style. I walked into Bee-cool, Which in Calgary is known by lots of people as a "bad piercing place" but I highly disagree. The people there are more polite then anywhere I've gone. They let the customer do whatever they want before and after the piercing so they are most comfortable. And all the rumors of them 'piercing badly' I find stupid due to the fact not every piercer can pierce perfectly everytime. But I'm trailing off. I walk into t he shop to find the piercing is 85$ (Canadian) + GST. and I only have $80.18 in my hand so Jill and I run off to her bank so she may lend me a couple bucks. I should have done my Homework! I walk into the shop for the second time. Fill out the Proper information, I got ID'd. I never have before. Which I found funny. Dee immediately picked up off my ID that it was my birthday and said that I was making a great choice of a birthday gift for myself, as my face would really suit a Monroe. She went to the backroom to prepare everything and before I knew it She called me back to the room....

I was asked to sit down in the familiar dentist chair, and was asked to swish with Listerine for a bit. She made me smile and then relax my face then smile etc. for the dot (may I add she knew the difference between a Monroe & a Madonna and Didn't ask me 'what side' because she is educated in the piercing name department unlike some people believe) I wanted my Monroe on the crease of my smile line but I read on here you can't, So I wanted it as close to the line as possible which Dee did all on her own. I was extremely happy with the placement and she said she would get the clamps ready. She put them on my face. Now people say this hurts? If it does I highly recommend you see a doctor, Because this wasn't painful at all, or uncomfortable. It felt like Clamps on your face. Nothing more. Nothing less. Then she said she would do her oh familiar line up and 'poke'. Which she did she poked me with the needle (12g) and said "take a deep breath" which I of course did and the next t hing I remember was a pressure on my lip but the feeling of something passing through it. An interesting feeling. I opened my eyes and there was a needle sticking out she said it was time to do the jewelry now. She lined everything up and then pushed it through. This did hurt more then the 'piercing' itself because that area is obviously sensitive and is now having something more pushed through it. But the pain was maybe a 3 or 4. And shortly passed. And then she said, "You're done" I jumped up quickly and ran to the mirror. I Smiled and big as I could and did a dance in joy. I loved it. Dee was very happy with my excitement. And walked me to the counter. She said Lavender soap on the outside and sea salt rinses on the inside. I Thanked her and she said I was such a fun sport I got 6$ off my next purchase at Bee-cool. For the next while I couldn't stop looking at it in mirrors. I felt very egotistic but there was a reason too, I looked dead sexy with a ball sitting on my fa ce.

I've done everything I am supposed to for cleaning etc. It doesn't hurt just feels dry so I put some Vaseline around the area to make it less uncomfortable. Other then that it's wonderful, and not the least bit painful. :) If you want to get your Monroe pierced, Don't let anything stop you because it's a wonderful piercing!
