To give you a little bit of a background on me my name is Kaila and I'm 16. I am from Canada. I have got a fat cat, old dog, a blind hamster and a fat hamster. I am also in grade eleven. This experience is about my labret. It all happened about a month ago, when at the spur of the moment I wanted a new piercing. I decided on the labret over talking it over with my boyfriend for about two seconds. I was only going to hear a yes and of course I did and I was off. I got a friend to come with me for a bit of support since the boyfriend is eight hours away. He always wants to be here when I want to do these things but oh well.
We got to Judy's studio and I told her I wanted my lip done. She was all for it because I always go there and she thought it would look good on me. I got to sit in the dentist chair, which is no big deal to me. I just hate that mouthwash they use. Blah that stuff is evil. I think it is Listerine but when it isn't watered down it's so harsh and gross. She prepared for the procedure while I was rinsing out my mouth with the evil mouthwash. After she cleaned my lip off and changed her gloves. I think she changed her gloves a lot because it was taking awhile. I asked myself why I always do this when I know it hurts. I was excited and nervous and I have no idea what the pain factor was going to be like for me. She finally put those clamps on me, but my supporter kept making me laugh and we had to readjust them a couple of times. She told me to take a deep breath and that she would pierce on my breathe out.
Whew that was so cool! It hurt less than my tongue did and it was my first facial piercing ever. Once again she cleaned me all off and I was set to go out and face the world. I went out to pay and I felt so silly. Stupid me I forgot my wallet. I swore I had it on my just a second ago. I must have been too excited and forgot to put it in my back pocket. I had to run home and grab my wallet and go all the way across town again. Oh well I paid 40 plus more for her wonderful services. I also bought a retainer for those very special occasions, or maybe work. It was cheap so I don't think it will be a big deal if I never use it.
It took my mother a whole week to notice what I had done to my face. By the end of the week I was trying to make her notice and finally I just put my hair back and looked right at her until she looked at me. I have no idea how she didn't notice anything. I had been avoiding her. Maybe she is just never around and never takes the time to notice. She felt kind of silly that she didn't even notice something protruding from my face. I don't think she minds what I do now as long as I don't overdo it in her eyes.
My friends at school thought it looks pretty nice and said it added something a little more exciting to my face, since I am told I have a simple face. I got the usual, did that hurt, or why would you do that? It gets a little irritating when I try to work or I am busy doing other things, but I always take the time to answer people. Other kids usually ask me about my ears though, because I suppose I have the biggest ears in the little city I live in.
It's been healing nicely, just a little bit of puss now and then. It never swelled that bad. Although the first night the ball fell off and I lost it and had to get put on a black one until I could go to the studio and get a replacement ball. I thought right then I wasted a whole lot of money for nothing. I like the small silver ball. I use a 1:3 of original Listerine and water to clean the inside and saline solution to clean the outside. The outside looks great, but the inside, under the flat part there is a bump around the whole hole, with a kind of white circle. It's not around the flat piece, it's under. I was kind of concerned so if anyone could give me some help that would be awesome. It doesn't hurt or anything I just want to know if it's that serious. I think it will go away as it has more time to heal, but I would love suggestions from you all.
