I have wanted to get my Monroe pierced for about 2 months now and yesterday I got it pierced. After I lost my eyebrow due to rejection last week I feel really naked since it was my only facial piercing and was there for about 5 months. Anyhow I told my sister that I wanted it done and we made a little agreement behind my mom's back. I would help her get a snake for her birthday and she would help me convince my mom to let me get my Monroe done. To make a long story short I got her, her snake and my piercing after a week of asking.

She asked if I had any jewelry and I said yes and showed her. She said it was to short and needed a longer one. I said Ok and went to go talk to mom and she asked how much was it without the jewelry. I said it was $50 and that it was $30 dollars with the jewelry. She said why don't you go to the mall and buy the jewelry it's cheaper there. I told her that a) most malls don't make jewelry that long, b) if they did it would not be all that great and would cost like $15 dollars and c) with all the gas it would take to find a mall that actually sells what I need it was better to just but it Reo's. She saw the reasoning in this and agreed.
So we went and said ok. She then asked where my photo ID and birth certificate was and I had forgot it. I said was here back in March and maybe you have a record of that. She said she probably did and asked her daughter (I think the daughter was around 12 years old) to check. As she flipped though the photocopies she asked what I was having done. I told her a Monroe and she said, "Ouch, why would you want that?'. I said I really did not know. When she found it she gave it to her Mom (the lady at the counter). She said there's no picture of me. I said that another piercer said it was okay the last time I was here.
She said that the law had changed on us since we were last there. The new law said that my Mom had to prove that she was actually my Mom and not my aunt or cousin or whatever. She said there have been aunts and uncles and older relatives that have the same last name and live in the same house bring in the kid without the kid's parents prior consent or knowledge. The woman said that one time a kid's aunt brought him in for piercing and it turned out to be not the kid's parent. I said I understood and would get my birth certificate and a photo ID. She said all I have to bring in for her to pierce me was my birth certificate and that's it and I said ok. She then said she would do the piercing without a photo ID of me and if I came back later that night or the next day because she would remember me. I said ok and we left. We went to go pick up dad and while we were waiting for him it started storming bad. It was really windy, started raining, and a bunch of lighting and thunder so we decided to go back the next day.
The next day I woke around 7 am and waited for mother to wake up. She got up around 2 and a half hours and said we'd go when she got awake enough. My father made breakfast which I did not eat because I was full from all the pretzels I ate like a half hour earlier. Then my Mom's friend came by to wish them happy anniversary and to talk. They got to talking about piercing and tattoos for a little while and then she left. After she left we decided what to do. We had to go to Department of Motor Vehicles for something but the line was too long and would close in 15 minutes so we decided to go to the shop buy this it was 12:30 in the afternoon. We did not check how much money we had before we left and we had only $42 which was $8 dollars short then what we needed and my mom told my dad to go the bank and get one hundred dollars out.
We then went inside and asked if they accepted checks and they did. But we had to wait around 20 minutes for some guy getting a tattoo on his neck. When we was done she called us back and got the things all set up. She then called a guy back into the room and instead of her doing it he did it. It turns out he was Reo a.k.a. the owner of the place. So I was happy that he was the one doing it, not that the woman was bad. He about to mark for a labret but I said I was getting a monroe not a labret. He apologized and marked where a monroe would go. I asked my sister how it looked and she said a little to side. Then he remarked and I asked my sister and she said a little up. After he remarked again I asked my sister again and she said it was prefect.
He then clamped it. After he then got the needle out and pushed it through my skin. You would this loud CRUNCH and I wanted to leave but I wanted the piercing. A tear rolled down my face I guess it was just a natural reaction to something getting pushed through your face. After he put the needle through he corked it while he got the jewelery. My mom and sister said my eyes were acting like I was going to pass out and laughed at it. He then put the jewelry though and screwed the ball in.
I said, "Thank you" and then me and my mom and sister waited for my dad to come back. We waited for about 5 minutes when he came back. I said, "Hi, dad". He told me didn't want to but I didn't care. My dad and I don't have much of a relationship anyhow. Later that night we went to Walmart and bought some cotton balls, mouthwash, and saline solution. This all happened yesterday (August 30) and can't be happier.
