So I decided to get my right cheek pierced! It took me one week to think about it and research piercers, information, certain problems associated with this piercing etc... Then, it took me another week to get over my nervousness and go in and get it done!
At A Glance Author Killme Contact Killme@bme.anon When A week ago Location Midwest I have never seen anyone with a piercing like this, so I even wondered if anyone would pierce my cheek. After a few piercers telling me "That's not very smart!" I began re thinking the whole idea. I called one more shop and the piercer said that he WOULD do the piercing! I was very surprised since everyone else had turned me down! So I made an appointment to come in on the next Friday. (Pay Day YAY!)
My nervousness had time to build up all week and I actually considered calling the shop to cancel the whole thing! I was very nervous about the pain but kept reminding myself that I'd always wanted dimples, and it would be totally worth it! I practically tortured myself worrying about the pain! At the time, I had decided to get it done alone although a lot of my friends offered to hold my hand, I really didn't feel like having people watch.
So, Friday rolls around and at the last minute, I call my friend Rob and ask him to come with me. I started freaking out and also figured I might want him to drive my car in case I'm overwhelmed with endorphins or pain! I really didn't know what to expect!
He kept messing with me as I did with him when I went with him to get his septum pierced, but it really did make me feel better that he was there. He also helped me to laugh even though I was so nervous!
Anyways, we pull up to the shop. I smoke a cigarette to calm my nerves a bit and we go in. I met with the piercer, signed the usual forms and we went to the piercing room. I sat in the chair and got totally nervous when i saw the needles and clamp. I couldn't turn back now. I'm glad I called Rob, because I might have walked right out even though I've been wanting this piercing for so long!
The piercer marked my right cheek with a marker for placement and we decided a good spot for the stud to be. Then, it was time, I tried thinking about how great it's going to look. But my piercer could tell I was nervous. He told me to calm down and told me to take deep breaths. When I calmed down a bit, he asked if it would be better if he counted to three. I said yes. He told me to exhale on three. As he counted I just wanted to get it over with by then. I felt the needle go through and it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it was going to be! The piercing was quick and well, not so painless but worth it none the less! He had no problem getting the stud through and I looked over to my right to see Rob smiling. I think he was smiling or smirking one or the other. I guess i deserved it after giving him so much shit with his septum piercing!
I felt light headed so he pulled the chair back and I laid down a few minutes. I was handed the mirror and checked out my new piercing! It looked great! I also couldn't believe what I had just done! I am very happy with my new piercing.
In order to keep the swelling down I've been taking ibuprofin and also chamomile tea bags. They both help very well with the puffiness! I have had a bit of pain while eating so, I drink a lot more liquids now. Other than that, the piercing is doing very well! I have to go back to get my jewelry shortened and that's about it.
The reactions I have gotten to this piercing are mixed. Most people in my area have never seen cheek piercings so they're either amazed or disgusted! Either way, I LOVE IT!
Now, I'm probably going to get my left cheek pierced next. I feel a lot better knowing what to expect from the piercing, piercee, and other people. I am actually excited to get the other one done but I am going to wait a few months to get it pierced.
Anyone who is thinking about a cheek piercing should definitly think it over a while. 2 weeks doesn't seem like much time for me but I figured now or never. Definitly check your resources and piercers credibility. Other than that, do whatever you feel comfortable with and enjoy it as much as possible! I know I do!
