Many months of serious consideration had gone into this...

Like all of my piercings, I contacted people to find out about their experiences with having their medusa pierced. Mostly I received many positive comments, but like most things I heard some horror stories about the piercing. Of course I take things with a grain of salt, as everyone's body chemistry is different, and almost everyone has different ways of caring for their modifications. I researched shops in London Ontario, and after hearing tons of positive feedback about Addictive, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for myself, and one for my friend Denise.
Denise & I drove into London, and were totally impressed with Addictive's atmosphere, and cleanliness. The piercer, Jacqui, answered all of our questions, and made us feel completely comfortable in her environment. I was nervous about going to a new piercer, as I had been going to the same piercer back in Ottawa for almost six years, and we all know how difficult it is to find a piercer with whom you are comfortable with. Jacqui chatted with us, and right away I felt like I had known her for years. When it came time for me to get pierced, I was relaxed, and eager to get the procedure started. Jacqui had me sit in the chair, while she calmed me, and discussed the cleaning methods with me. She explained everything wonderfully, and told me to ask her anything I needed to know or was curious about. Jacqui then had me swish with mouth wash, and then she marked the area of where she thought the piercing would look it's best. This was fairly easy, as I have my labret pierce d, so it was all a matter of lining the two piercings up perfectly. She had me look in the mirror, to confirm that the marking was lined up with my labret, I agreed, and sat back down in the chair. She explained that she would have me lay down for the procedure, as one it was more comfortable for me, and two it was just much easier for her to pierce that way, so lay down I did. Jacqui then clamped me, informed me that she would tell me when the needle was going to go thru, and that she needed me to take a deep breath in and then out just before the needle slid through. Denise held my left hand, Jacqui told me to breathe in, out, and then the needle gently slid through. I felt the needle slid though, but I must say it was no worse then when I had my labret pierced almost seven years ago. Afew minutes later, Jacqui put the jewelry in, told me to stay laying down for a minute, just to make sure I wasn't going to pass out, and then I was allowed to stand up and look at my new piercing. I was amazed! The procedure went amazing well, and it looked beautiful! It was perfectly lined up with my labret. I couldn't believe how great it looked. About five minutes after getting pierced, my upper lip began to swell. I knew that would happen, as it had happened with my labret, so I fully knew what to expect. Jacqui gave me her email address, and told me to contact her anytime.
That night my lip was still swollen, but nothing uncomfortable or noticeable. I swished with listerine mouth wash, of which I diluted with water about 50%. I then boiled water, combined some sea salt, and soaked a cotton ball over my new piercing for about five minutes. I washed my new medusa with Spectro Gel, a product I use for ALL my piercings.
I noticed that my upper lip was swollen for no more then five days, and healed up wonderfully well. I would suggest this piercing highly, as it is just such an attractive piercing. But like all things, I always suggest researching the procedure and the shop you go to before getting anything done. It has been over a month since I had my medusa pierced, and I love it to pieces.
If you live anywhere near the London Ontario area, I would highly suggest you check out Addictive Piercing & Tattoos. Jacqui makes herself fully available to her clients. When I returned home, I emailed some photos of the procedure to Jacqui, and made sure I kept in touch with her durring my healing process. She always responds to my emails, and always goes out of her way to answer anything I may ask her. Most piercers do not follow up with you after you walk out their door, but Jacqui is the first piercer I have ever been to that goes well above her call of duty. She is friendly, and made my medusa experience a pleasant and wonderful one. I will go back to Addictive in London anytime forsure!
