For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with body piercing and tattoos. Always reading books on cultures who practiced these things as a way of life and decided I wanted it as apart of my life as well. Finally, when I turned 18 I had the world I always wanted at my fingertips. I had 2 other modifications before I got my lip pierced. I was with some friends and decided to check out what was going on downtown at the "Square".

My first exprience at Fat Kats was when my friend got her eyebrow pierced. I fell in love with the place the second I walked in. It had just been remodeled and look fantastic. A very artistic and welcome approach it gave to people as they walked into the door. The people that worked there were awesome as well. The owner pierced my friend and you wouldn't have even known he owned the place. He was so cool and not like most places where owners are well kinda flaky.
So as I go there to check it out, I decide to get a piercing. I had already decided long before I wanted a labret. So, I talked it over with my friends and they thought it was a good idea. So, I talked to the guy up front. Did all the paperwork and what not. Paid my way and sat and waited. Brian was going to pierce me who was the second body piercer besides the owner. I actually thought he was cute and had no problem for him to pierce me.;)
As I sat I got all nervous again like I had before with my eyebrow. I knew it wouldn't hurt all that bad and it was worth the nervous laughter and shaky hands. And I couldn't wait to call my bestest buddy in the world up in Charlotte and tell her about it. So finally, Brian comes back out and tells me he's ready. So, we venture back and having my best friend there with me helped very much. Brian had me gargle with Listerine for one minute and after that had me sit on the side of the chair so I wasn't leaning back. He brought around his "utensils of pain" ;) and began the procedure.
He swabbed and marked it. I finally agreed on a good spot for it to be in. During that time he knew I was nervous and was joking around helping me to relax a little. So, then the big time came and Brian grabbed the clamp and placed it onto my lip.( People say the clamp hurts...I don't think so, in my opinion.) My friend was standing nearby holding my hand. Like the little baby I am. :) So he pierces my lip and i feel nothing. But then! He pushed the jewelry through and then I got some feeling. It wasn't an awful pain but quick and got my blood going even more.
He finally got the labret stud in and I was able to turn around and look in the mirror. I was in love with my lip. It looks gorgeous. He had me gargle one more time with Listerine for as long as I wanted. Afterwards, where-ever there was a mirror I was looking at my lip. Brian did a fantastic job and it looks wonderful. He went over how to care for it and all that. I found that having to gargle after everything I do helped me get rid of my smoker's tongue. So, it's had a few perks for me.
After we left I called my mom and told her about my new love. She wasn't happy but wasn't going to disown me. My grandparents on the other hand were very upset. But, I told them and everyone I meet who can't understand such things that this is who I am, this is what I like and there's no changing me. They finally got over it and don't bother e too much about it. I also called my friend in Charlotte and she was happy for me and couldn't wait to get a picture of it. I wish she had been with me but she was with me before so it was okay.
It's been a week now and I love it more by the minute. For anyone who wishes to get there lip pierced, I highly suggest it. I think lip piercings look very sexy and are not as common as tongue and belly button rings. So, you can feel different and unique. I love my beautiful labret and I constantly get comments on it. My family has even warmed up to the fact that I have it and these are the things that I enjoy and have interest in. I love my labret and no one can change my mind otherwise.
