I had wanted to get the Monroe piercing since I was about 17. But there was no way that my parents would have signed for me to get it done considering I wasn't 18. So I would just have to wait until I turned 18. Well finally my birthday rolled around and I had turned 18. Yet I still found myself in a bind. My job wouldn't allow facial piercings. About a month after my birthday I had to quit my job because I would be moving soon. So opportunity had come knocking at my door. A few days after I had quit my job, I planned to finally get my monroe that I have wanted for forever.

My sister decided she wanted to get her belly button pierced so we decided to go together. The night before I knew we were going I took my black eyeliner pencil and was trying to figure out exactly where I wanted it. And I had found the perfect spot. The piercing/tattoo shop that I had gone to before to get my belly button pierced is an awesome place to go. So I knew that that was where I was going to get my monroe. The piercer/tattoo artist, Razer, is really really nice.

I walked in and he asked me what we were doing. I told him that I wanted to get the monroe piercing. He told me all the risks that were involved and whatnot only because he has to tell me all that so I don't sue him or anything if something happens to my piercing. So me and my sister filled out the appropriate forms and he photocopied our drivers licenses. My sister wanted me to go first since she's a bigger wuss than I am.

He took me around to the chair that's out in the open and told me to sit down. I laid back and he adjusted the chair. He asked me what side I wanted it on and I said I wanted it on the right side. So he had to turn the chair around so it was facing all the other people that were inside. I had an audience!! He got a q-tip and started cleaning the area with rubbing alcohol. It was funny because it was right under my nose so I could smell it very very well. And to kind of put me at ease he started dabbing it all over my face. Everyone laughed at me then. Then he marked the right side and handed me a mirror to make sure I liked where he had marked it. And it was perfect. It was exactly where I had marked it the night before.

He got out the clamp and the stud and all that good stuff and he showed me the stud that he would be putting in. He put the clamp on around where he had marked. This was already getting kind of uncomfortable. I just closed my eyes and laid my head back. I think that since the clamp and him pulling at it and whatnot kind of took some of my attention away from the actual needle going through. It kind of hurt..but it was just more like a pressure. Then he put the stud through which hurt a little and then he took the clamp off. He got a pair of pliers or something to that affect and used it to hold the back while he tightened the ball on the front.

He handed me back the mirror and I looked at it. I was so happy!! I just kept saying "Oh my god, I love it I love it!!!" He told me that if I wanted to sit for a few minutes I could in the chair. But I was fine. Plus there were a bunch of people in line after me to get pierced. So I got up and went over and sat next to my mom on one of the couches in the place. She looked at me like she was terrified. But she told me it looked cute. After my sister got her belly button pierced (and my best friend ended up getting hers done too) I paid Razer and thanked him a whole bunch. I love going there to get pierced. It's the only place I will go.

I've had my monroe for about 2 days now. It's still feels a little funny on the inside, but I'll get used to that. It looks wonderful, just a little swollen though. I rinse with Listerine after I eat and I clean the front with Bactine like twice a day. Also, when I'm in the shower I sort of dab some Dial soap around the front of it. I love how it looks and I will do all that it takes to keep it looking good and healed. I absolutely adore it. :)
