I have to say it, right now, up front. I am officially addicted to piercing. It all started when I was about 12,when I decided that I wanted my tongue pierced. Well, that didn't happen until I was about 14 and a half, and that was my first body piercing. After that, my first ear holes were gauged to a 0g, my seconds to a 12g, and I got third holes pierced. Then, soon after that came a conch, and then a nipple ring. My story is about my latest piercing, which happened only two days ago...MY LIP!

Ok, so I never really thought about doing it. Seriously thoght. The idea HAD crossed my mind more than a few times. I just wanted a new hole, and had already decided that it would be a facial piercing or a surface piercing. Well, I didn't have enough money or courage for a surface piercing, so I went with the facial.

At first, I was scared to do it, but my friend Marlon assured me that it didn't hurt. Of course, I didn't believe him. He has triple 0g holes, and has had his lip, nipple and eyebrow done. But I figured I would go ahead with it. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted it. So I did it.

I was downtown with four of my friends, and I knew that I was going to pierce something. I ditched three of them, because I knew they would have made me even more nervous than I alredy was, and pulled the guy that I mentioned above into Agit Prop, one of my favourite piercing studios. The piercer that I wanted, Buzz, wasn't working, but he was there, just hanging around I guess. I asked him to do it for me, and he agreed.

He led me to a little roomm in the back, and told me all about lip piercings, the procedure, the aftercare, discomfort, EVERYTHING! After all that, he asked if I still wanted to do it, and I said yes. No turning back now.

Well, Buzz gave me a little cup of mouthwash, and told me to swish it around. When I was done that, he took out the iodine. He started joking around, and painted a little beard and moustach on me, which I find uncommon for a girl to have. Still, it was a good laugh.

Then he took out the clamp, needle, and ring. He explained that he had to do it with a 7/16" ring, to allow room for swelling, but I could change it after about two weeks, and he would be happy to do it for me.

Then came the clamp. Buzz told me to take a deep breath in and I was expecting the needle. It didn't come. He told me to blow out hard, and through went the needle! I barely felt anything! He asked if I was ok, and i tried to say yes, but almost got the needle up my nose. Then he put the hoop through, tightened it with the pliers, stuck the bead in and gave me a typed up sheet of aftercare instructions. He ran through them with me, then led me out. Then he added to come back in about a week or two, and he would change it to a smaller hoop (3/8") or a labret stud.

My three friends that I didched think that I'm nuts, and the one that stayed with me thinks its cool. I called my mom, and she asked what I did this time (I got in ALOT of trouble for piercing my tongue). I told her straight out that I pierced my lip, and I don't think she believed me. I assured her that I did, and showed her as soon as I got home, about an hour later. Surprisingly, I didnt get in trouble! I think she kind of likes it.

My boyfriend said he would stop kissing me if I pierced my lip, but I dumped him the day before I did it, so no problem there. All of my friends who have seen it love it. A few of them want to do it, but are to to scared or some other equally stupid reason.

Personally, I love it. It's a bit hard to get used to, but nothing unbearable. It feels really cool to have my lip done, kind of like when you first get your tongue pierced.

Right now, I'm playing with it, flipping the ring back and forth. The swelling has gone down alot, and I'm already starting to get used to it.

If you ever consider doing this, Here are a few tips:

1) Find a good, clean piercing place

2) GO FOR IT!!!

I did and am planning to again very soon!
