I have wanted to get my lip pierced for a while, but I never thought my parents would actually let my get it done. I had asked them like a million times before if I could get my tongue pierced and of course, they said no. I finally just asked my mom if I could get my lip pierced and before she could say no, I laid out my case. After I explained to her that it is not dangerous and I could always just take it out and let it heal up she said it was okay with her if it was okay with my dad. My dad is cool about everything I do, so naturally, he gave me permission. I went out about an hour later to find a place to get pierced.
At A Glance Author Amanda Contact poetic_universe@hotmail.com When A week ago Studio Aggieland Tattoo Location College Station, Tx Since it was the day before Thanksgiving, no one was open. I just about to give up hope when I was Aggieland Tattoo. They had their bright neon OPEN sign lit up in their window, I was sooo happy. So I went in and asked them how much it would cost and if they could just call my dad to get permission. Of course, by Texas state law they said he would have to be there. So I went home and asked him if he would take me but he said it would have to wait until after the holidays. Finally, right as he was about to go to bed, he changed his mind and took me there.
They just had to copy our Id's and get my dad to sign some forms, which didn't take long at all. They told me I would have to wait 30 minutes so the guy could finish a tattoo so I took my dad home and almost as soon as I got there, they told me they were ready for me to come back.
When I got there they had me go to a little room reserved for piercing and I sat back in the little dentist kinda chair. I was slightly nervous but relaxed after he explained to me exactly how he was going to do it. First he cleaned my chin with some kind of disinfectant and got out a little marker to mark the spot he would pierce. After that he had me look at the spot to see if it was okay, I liked and so did he.
Then he had his assistant come in and hold the clamp that was attached to my lip. He told me that he was going to stick the needle through on the count of 3 but he stuck it in at 2. I'm glad he did too, it was a lot less stressful that way, and I just wanted to get it over with. It hurt a bit and I managed to mutter "Oh, shit." I think the part that hurt the most was when he pushed the jewelry through the hole, which was kind of intense.
After it was over I got up and looked at the rest of their jewelry. I was pretty disappointed when he told me it would 4-6 weeks before I could change out my labret. I went home afterward so I could take some Advil, that way the swelling wouldn't get to me so bad. It hurt for about 45 minutes then the painkillers kicked in and I was fine. Overall, I would have to say that it didn't really hurt at all, it's like getting a shot at the doctor, except you get left with an awesome piercing. I was in a little pain for the next few days but it only took a second for me to fall in love with my labret.
I did have a few complications with my labret, the skin on the inside of my lip tried to grow over the backing of the jewelry. It was painful because I would have to break through the skin every so often so the skin didn't get a chance to grow completely over. The only reason this happened was because my swelling was pretty bad, I have really sensitive skin so it reacts bad to just about everything. Sensitive skin is why I won't even wear earrings anymore.
Anyway, I would definitely recommend this type of piercing, the pain is minimal and the results are just awesome. All of my friends love it and some of them are jealous cuz their parents are stuck up and won't let them get pierced until they move out. Just be prepared to answer a lot of "Did it hurt?" questions.
Also, one of the best places to buy jewelry is at coolpiercings.com, they have really good prices and they accept PayPal, which is great because I don't have a credit card. I bought a few ball closure rings there and only paid like $19.00, shipping is free too. If you have any questions are anything, you can email me at the address above.
