I never really wanted to get a Monroe. I remember when I was around the age of 14, I saw one on Jenny Jones, and I thought it was sooo weird. But it seems as if ever since I turned 18 I have been getting some form of piercing or tattoo every month. (In Cincinnati you have to be 18 to get tattooed or pierced, even with a guardian present) So a couple of weeks ago I decided that I wanted one. I looked at a ton of pictures on the Internet of them, and I fell in love with it. I just had to get this done!

As soon as I walked in a felt completely comfortable. This place looked a lot more professional and clean, and the people there were all so friendly. I talked with the girl at the counter for a while about it, and I decided to get it pierced with a tiny little silver ball. The girl at the counter was an apprentice and she said that she could do it for cheaper, but she had never done it before and wasn't fully comfortable, so I decided to have it done by the guy there.
He asked me to take a seat and he would go and get everything ready for me in the other room. It was only about 5 minutes before he was ready, but it seemed like forever because I was beginning to get a little antsy. I paced back and forth and finally he was ready for me. I stepped into the room and I was really impressed with how clean and doctor-like everything seemed. He went through all of the instructions and the whole procedure with me. I pretty much knew how to take care of it from my other piercings.
The girl at the counter came in to watch the procedure, which made me feel a bit more comfortable; it was nice to have a girl in the room. He had me wash my mouth out with that stuff that they always give you when you get an oral piercing, and I swished it around in my mouth while he prepared something, in the meantime I was getting more and more nervous. Then I spit and the piercer made a silly joke about how I spit so pretty and it made me laugh and relaxed a little bit.
Next he wiped off a spot with a piece of gauze and some soap that tingled a little bit. He then asked me where I wanted it pierced and I wasn't really positive I only knew I wanted it on the right side so I told him to just make a dot. He made a dot with a toothpick and that purple stuff and I looked at it in the mirror. The dot was perfect. I was ready to get this whole thing over with! He said that since the needle needs to go up instead of down I needed to lie down. He put the back of the chair down and I laid back and stared at the ceiling. Then he took his fingers and started to massage the inside and outside of the spot that he was going to pierce, he said it was good for the tissue and it separated all the blood vessels. My old piercer never did that. This guy was so awesome! Then he told me to relax and hold real still and think happy thoughts.
The needle went right in and out. It barely hurt at all. Then he put in the labret stud and the transfer kind of pinched a bit, but it always does. Then he screwed on the little silver ball and I was all finished! It was such an adrenaline rush! I bled a tiny bit, and he wiped it away and gave me a mirror to look at it. I loved it!
I was all done, so I left the room and went outside to pay for it. My hands were all shaky and I felt kind of funny so they gave me a Popsicle. I paid for it and left.
It has been 2 days since I got it pierced. The swelling has gone down a ton, and it almost feels completely better. The post is a little too long so it would allow room for swelling. I have been rinsing with water and sea salt which helps immensely. I cannot wait until it is healed so I change the little silver ball. I want to get a tiny little diamond.
This is by far my most favorite piercing I have. It is so cute and feminine. I recommend it for everybody. It is virtually painless, and since it sits up so high it doesn't really get bumped around too much during the healing process. It's great, everybody should have a Monroe!
