I had wanted my lip pierced for a VERY long time. I had wanted it ever since I was about 11, I thought body piercing was the coolest thing ever. BUT, as in almost every story, it's always the parents that stand in the way of body modification. It was probably about half way through the school year and I begged and begged and begged my mother to let me get it done and it just wasn't happening. I had let it got for a little bit and didn't really think anything else of it.

Time went by, and school got closer to ending. Finally I thought of the perfect thing to convince her. I said if I passed every class on my last report card and I passed all my exams, could I get it pierced. So, she gave me the classic answers that moms to let me talk to your father. I though, oh no, don't do that, that's the worst possible thing to do. My dad was even more against it. A couple days went by and I came home from school and my mom told me to set up my appointment and I was all set. I didn't even have to follow through on my end of the deal.

I made my appointment at Addiction Studios. I believe the body piercing guys name was Tim. The place had a very good reputation, a couple of my friends had gone there to get their tongues pierced.

By the time the day had come I had decided that I would get a 14-gauge hoop right in the middle of my lip. My dad thought it would look dumb but oh well, what can ya do? So, it was that time. I got it done on a Friday after school and I brought my best friend and my brother along with me. As we were driving there I wasn't scared at all, then my buddy decided she was going to start telling me all these horror stories that she had heard, but that didn't really faze me. Then I saw the sign for the place and my stomach turned. I couldn't believe I was getting it done. My dad drove right by the place and I started freaking out. My Brother couldn't stop laughing. I was actually thinking that maybe it wasn't such a good idea. But my friend wouldn't let me back out now.

We got there a bit early and had to wait a few minutes. Tim was just finishing up some guy's tattoo. So we were sitting there and I couldn't stop shaking I was so nervous, this was my first piercing by the way. Tim finished the tattoo that he was working on and gave me all the forms to fill out. You know the usual, we won't sue you if my lip falls off, that sort of thing. Then he checked ID to make sure we weren't lying.

Then the time came, I didn't think I could possibly be anymore nervous, but I was. He sat me down in the big scary dentist looking chair. The place was very clean and it was really bright and everything was white. He prepped everything up and must have changed his gloves about 5 million times. He had everything set out in the order he was going to use it. He marked my lip with a purple pen, I couldn't stop shaking so this took him a few tries to get it in the center. Finally, he got it to were he thought was good and asked me to look in the mirror to double check, I thought it looked good and I asked my friend what she thought and she said it looked good so I sat down again. He put the clamps on, everyone says the clamps are usually the most painful part but it didn't even bother me. Then he took the needle out of it package and said take a deep breathe and let it go when I say. I didn't and right when he said let it out he stuck it through. I was amazed, it didn't hurt one bit. So I was sitting there for a minute while he was getting the ring ready, with this big thick needle hanging out of my lip. The look on my friends face was classic, she couldn't even watch the rest. He stuck the ring on the end of the needle and pulled it threw. That didn't hurt either. He stuck the ball on, we paid, and I was pierced.

He told me after I eat to rinse with mouthwash, and on the outside use bactain. I had to clean it after I smoked and ate for 2 weeks, then it went down to 3 times a day. So, needless to say, I am very happy with my lip ring. I've had it for right about a year now, and in a couple days I'm getting my eyebrow done, hopefully it won't hurt too bad.

For everyone that wants it done and is scared, go for it! It doesn't hurt and I think it looks real cool, and its fun to play with...
