Hello, everyone. I finally got my monroe pierced! This is my second time writing an experience to BME. Last time, I said that I have wanted my monroe for about four years, but I can't find a job that will let me have it. Well, I quit my job at the bridal store and started working in the mall. My boss said she didn't mind me getting it done, so I did. One day I was driving with my husband we were heading towards the north side of town. I said let's go get my monroe done and he said okay. We headed up there and I signed all the paperwork.

I've been there many times before and Henry always does my piercings. So he got the jewelry and we went back in one of the rooms. He had me rinse my mouth and lay down. He marked the spot with purple ink and I had him move it over a little. Then, he used a paper towel to get all of saliva off of the area. He put two fingers on the inside and the needle went through the other side. It was a little painful, but nothing major. I looked at it in the mirror and instantly loved it, but I always knew I would.

It felt a little uncomfortable and my whole upper lip was swollen for a week or so. I've had it for about a month now. I went back to the studio about a week ago to have a smaller shaft put in. When they pierce it, they put a long one in just in case it swells really badly (like a tongue piercing). I like the shorter one much better because I kept getting the inside of it caught under my teeth. Now the only problem that I have with it is that the skin on the inside has grown over it a little. But it really doesn't bother me that much.

When my husband had his labret, it would dig into his gums. He literally had a hole in his gum from the sharp plate. Luckily, my monroe doesn't do that. Well, my next project will be my lower navel. After that, my lower back tattoo, and then both inner conches. I am starting to really like orbitals, too. I just don't know where on my ear to put them. Decisions, Decisions!

Including my new piercing, I would say my least painful was my tongue, then navel, tragi and monroe hurt the same amount, then my nipples, then my rooks, which hurt the most. I still think large gague tongue tapering hurts incredibly bad, too. I have a rule for myself that I always let a piercing heal pretty well before I get a new one, so I will be getting a new one in the near future.

Does anyone know of a good tattoo parlor in Texas? I know of an awesome on in Galveston, but it's really far away. I've been to Deep Elem in Dallas, and I didn't like the tattoo shops there. The people were rude and honestly, I wouldn't give them my money for them to be rude to me. Here's the thing; I want my tattoo to be very detailed and colorful. It seems like all of the tattoos I see around here are either tribals or they are just really ugly. They aren't ever tattoos that make people say wow.

I have been really impressed with my monroe, because it is the only piercing that I have had that didn't pus and get crusties. My nipples bled and were crusty and tender for ever, and my rooks had puss and were tender for the first year that I had them. My navel was gross for a long time, and my tongue was just swollen for about two weeks. I think that my monroe pussed and had crusties for like one day. Since then, it feels like it is already healed.

The sad thing is that with all my other pierces, I was really careful to clean them twice a day. I hardly ever remember to clean this one. I figure that if it starts to be (mad at me), I'll clean it then. My piercer and my husband both agreed that it is healing very well and fast. I told my husband that I always knew that I would be pierced there, so my body doesn't reject it.

I will probably be writing another experience soon, if I can talk myself into getting my inner conches. The reason why it makes me so nervous is because my rooks hurt the most of all and there is more cartilege to pierce on my conches than my rook was. I can only imagine how bad it will hurt. Helpful hint- I try to think of this when I am nervous about getting pierced- I just think about the fact that other people have survived from that piercing. If they can do it, I can do it. Also, if you want a piercing bad enough, you will be more excited than scared or nervous.
