Well, i was in ottawa for some journalism conference back in october/november for a week. (i live in toronto) I had full intentions on getting my tongue web pierced again b/c the first time i got it done, it got infected. and i really liked it.

So we had the friday off, and me and my friends all went perusing downtown ottawa, but i of course, saved my money for my piercing. We went to a bunch of places and either they were really dirty or they didn't offer web piercings. Then we went to Agitprop, (172 Rideau St), and it looked really clean and neat and stuff. it had a pool table like new tribe in toronto (!!!) and my piercer asked me to fill out an info card and i had to wait about.... 15 minutes.

It was all good.

He then sat me down in the chair and we talked about the kid of piercing i was getting. He explained that everything was sterilized and he put on gloves and everything. Then he asked me about my medical history blah blah. He should me the kind of jewelery i would be pierced with and gave me mouthwash to gargle.

After that he examined my mouth and my tongue web. he gave me this "look" and was like, "have you had this piercing before?" After telling him i had, he looked at it again and said, "well, theres not enough web for me to pierce. take a look yourself" and so i looked in the mirror and lo and behold, i had no web. eeek!

so we went back and discussed other piercings i could get. my second choice was my lip. but my piercer said i'd look good with my scrumper done. and that was something i wasn't up for. so we settled on a lip piercing. i just had to decide if i wanted one of two. i wanted one on each side of my lower lip, and my piercer said he'd do both for $70

which is a REALLY good price. but i opted for one in the center. would set me back $40.

So i gargled again, and my piercer put on new gloves and explained the procedure and talked about healing and care and the type of jewelry i was going to be pierced with. then he studied my face and put a dot where he was going to pierce me. He handed me the mirror and asked if i liked it and yeah it looked good. So he put the clamp on my lip and told me not to move, and suddenly, i felt the needle go through. It hurt, but it was what would be expected for a piercing. my eyes rolled back (heh) and my piercer was like, "its ok....just dont move." but it felt SO GOOD! then he put my ring in and BAM! i was done. i got a cool looking black ball in my 14g ring.

I looked in the mirror and i was like, "egads. that looks good" So i probably had this shitastic grin on my face. He talked about aftercare, and told me i had to gargle 6 times a day w/antibacterial mouthwash for about a month. great. And if i had any questions, to call him. also i couldnt eat pizza or like, fried junk. which was totally ok.

i didnt experience nausea or did i feel faint afterwards. which is a good thing i think, and it wasnt bloody or anything. it was weird eating afterwards. well, drinking especially, but i got used to it fast.

about a week later after i went back home, all the dead skin around my piercing turned white and got really annoying, and a week after that, i got this gross looking white bump right where the piercing was inside my lip. i thought it was infected. so i called my my friend who had his done and he told me it was totally normal and that it was just scar tissue or something and it would go away.

so i waited another week and yeah, it went away. now its all healthy looking and i can change the jewellry and stuff. go me. i clean it every day, and i still gargle about 3xs a day, just to keep it clean.

so all in all it was a really good experience. my mom hates it, but whatever. i'm glad i got it done instead of my tongue web. i'm looking to get either my septum next or a horizontal bellybutton piercing. but that probably migrates easily....but i wouldnt know.

it's really fun to play with. but can be a bitch when you're making out. heh. thats about it. just make sure you go somewhere clean and where you're comfortable blah blah....
