Lip ring adventure. |
| ||||||||||||||||
For about a year now I've wanted my lip pierced. When my friend Adam said that he would be able to do it, I thought hard about if i should wait until i'm 18 and go to a pro, or just have Adam do it now. So after about a week of contemplating, I decided i wanted it now.So after a few days, and after trying to schedule it around dental surgery (for the Novocain) fell through I just decided to do it. So my friend Brooks picked me up and we went to see Adam who was waiting at another friends house. I was very on end. Like that shivering feeling you get when it's really cold out. We went inside and I wanted to chill for a bit before, but Brooks was in quite a hurry to go somewhere so after 10min of badgering I just said, "FINE! WE'LL DO IT NOW!"
Now here's where I describe the setting. My friend Tina's house Is located somewhere in My city (I'm not about to give the whereabouts) but it's about 2 blocks away from my house. The apartment is a very nice place upstairs on a 2 story, and there's a balcony. So It's very nice. There's an attic that my friends fixed up, put in some carpeting, added various hanging tapestries. It's very lovely. Anyways I'm getting pierced in the living room if you will.
So I swooshed with Listerine about 4 times, and I was running around all frantic. It was pretty funny looking. And then I picked the spot where I wanted it, (on the right side through the thick part) and Adam marked the spot that the needle would be going and exiting thru. Man was I nervous at this point. My friend Claire was holding my hand and later she said it was all white from me squeezing it. Adam got the needle out and a big chill went down my spine. He changed his gloves, put on some bactiene, and then came the clamps. So he's here holding my lip and told me to give him the word, and so i said, "now" closed my eyes and started squeezing.
And let me tell you. This was no walk in the park. I've heard stories from people ranging that this didn't hurt, and it felt GOOD. But this was not my idea of fun. With the needle in, my lip didn't bleed at all. That was until the needle left and the ring went thru. I chose a 14 gauge, 3/8 captive ring and my eyes were very closed for this part but the ring wasn't received all the way through. So as you know, there was lots of blood. LOTS of blood. Someone said, "uh-oh its starting to bleed" and my eyes shot wide open and there was a pool of blood on the floor. This was the turning point. I snapped. I started pacing around the room, with a halfway inserted ring in my lip, holding 9 napkins on my face trying to absorb as much blood as possible. As soon as I calmed down, I went back to my seat and he told me that he could insert a barbell and i was like "you crazy, put the damned ring in." So after 3 min(which seemed like an hour) of waiting for blood to stop pouring, and poking and prodding around the flesh in my lip, it was thru. Yay. So right now I had what looked to be a bloody staple in my lip. And after that I had to mop up the blood, and find all my napkins. I had some old local oral anesthetic that I use for canker soars so I used a lot of that up, and lots of Listerine too. I didn't feel like getting it infected. Maybe later.
After that Adam was going to do his eyebrow and ran all out of gloves. So my friend Shawn stopped by and we went for a drive to find some gloves. We went to a drugstore and the only thing they had were powdered un-sterilized gloves. So we drove to a grocery store and stole some nice ones from the produce department.
My lip was puffed out to the size of a grapefruit (duh me for not knowing this was his first piercing on someone else). But someone had to go first. And I'm glad I did. It's not healing well at all but it was fun. Right now I can't get the crust to go away, and there's some tissue in my mouth that won't heal. I went to the doctor but he just wanted to give me drugs. I'm sure it'll be fine in a month. I'll have pictures. Word to your mother. xXx.
