Okay, so I have always thought that getting an eyebrow piercing would be awesome, but never wanted to get it done because I knew my parents would freak out and everyone around me was getting their navels pierced. One of my good friends had her eyebrow pierced when she was 16 and said it hurt like hell. That did not make me want to get one, as I was squeamish just about getting my ear lobes pierced.Even when I turned 18, I was too scared to get it. Everyone around me was getting tattoos and piercings, and I was so jealous because all I really wanted was that eyebrow piercing, but I was such a chicken.

So, finally, in my junior year of college, I was trying to decide between the nostril or eyebrow piercing. I really felt like it was time to get it done, but I kept delaying myself because I never really saved up enough, and could not decide which one I wanted. I really favored the eyebrow, but heard that the nose was much less painful. Anyway, my boyfriend decided to get a tattoo last weekend, and we made a promise that if he got a tattoo, I would have to get a piercing. (yeah, i know its weird.) I made up all sorts of excuses because I was so scared about how much it was going to hurt.

After finally making an appointment at this piercing/hair salon (my friend got her lip and nose pierced there and said that they were cheap, clean and awesome so I felt okay with them.) a couple blocks from my university, my boyfriend was going to get his hair cut while I got my piercing. I was chickening out like, an hour before getting the piercing and begging my boyfriend to let me cancel the appointment. I knew it was now or never.

After reading this website, and the stories the morning of my appointment, i felt so much better, which cut down my paranoia a good amount. I finally walked in and sat down, while my boyfriend went upstairs to get his haircut, waiting for "Chuck" to come out. He was this huge guy with a couple of piercings and a nice smile, and came out to let me fill out the release form, and explain to me how to take care of the piercing afterwards. After all of that, we chose the ring that I was going to put in. I liked the barbell, but decided for a small, traditional ring just cause i heard the barbell hurts more to insert when you get it pierced. He told me to settle down in the waiting room while he cleaned up and prepped everything. I was shaking so bad, and was pissed because my boyfriend could not come in the room with me to hold my hand. So, finally he calls me in to the room, where there is a small sink and a long chair for me to lay down on and there was also ocean music playing in the background. He then proceeded to clean my eyebrow and draw the infamous dots, all the while I was asking questions like if it was going to bleed a lot, or if the clamp was really as painful as people make it out to be, he reassured me that it was an easy and virtually painless piercing to get. Then he handed me a stuffed animal and made me lie down, with my head to the side. He explained to me everything that was going to happen, and began the clean off my eyebrow one last time. He told me to shut my eyes and then clamped me, which basically felt like a painful pinch, nothing too unbearable. Then, he said the words I dreaded, "Take a deep breath", and pushed the needle through. It honestly was not terrible, the only thing that freaked me out was that the needle was dangling by my eye while he got the piercing, but putting in the jewelry was painless. I would have to say the clamp kind of cut off circulation, so the needle going through really was not that bad. I loosened up my death grip on the stuffed animal and sat up slowly to grab "\Ãw€ë the mirror to see it, and oh my gosh, I loved it so much! I felt weak, but at the same time had this extreme adrenaline coursing through me. I floated to the front to pay for the piercing, and handed Chuck his tip. When my boyfriend saw me, he could not believe how great it looked.

For those of you scared of the pain, I just have to say that I am a huge wuss, and it only hurts a teeny bit more than an ear piercing would. Get it done if you really like it, I promise you wont regret it.
