I've been interested in piercings for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until recently that it dawned on me, "Hey, I'm over 16 now, I can get almost anything I want pierced!" Thinking my parents would be peeved, I started out with getting both my nipples pierced. Of course, they found out (through word of mouth), and they were a little upset. A month later I came home from school with my septum pierced, and they were slightly annoyed. When I walked in with my tongue pierced, they were actually interested. That led to my mom actually paying for my nostril and upper-ear piercing, leading to...guess what, my eyebrow.
At A Glance Author Krista Contact asva0813@hotmail.com When It just happened Studio Psycho City Location Moose Jaw, SK, Canada I was up late one night waiting for a phone call. Of course, where better to spend my time than browsing through BME? My last piercing had been almost four months ago, and I was getting that craving again. I spent my time looking at pictures and then looking in a mirror, deciding where would be the "perfect piercing" to bring everything together. I decided on two - my right eyebrow and my labret.
My parents and I were heading into town the next day to run some errands (we live on a farm), so I decided to try a long-shot. I kept hinting that we should stop by In Essence, where I usually get my piercings done in Moose Jaw, to pick up some new jewelry. When they agreed to that, I expressed my interest in getting my eyebrow done. Surprisingly, no negative feedback. We drove over to In Essence and to my amazement, my mom walks up to the counter to see if I can get pierced. Unfortunately, she was all booked up for the day. After my mom was finally convinced they didn't have time for me that day, we went to the car. Instead of going home, she headed over to Psycho City, the city's piercing and tattoo parlor.
I know what you're thinking. I'm spoiled. I whole-heartedly agree but wouldn't change a thing.
We went inside and filled out the usual forms. I was then led back to the piercing room and hopped up in the chair, telling him I wanted my eyebrow done. He walked me through the procedure, telling me that he was going to first mark my eyebrow, and if we both agreed, he would clamp it, then push against the spot with the blunt end of the needle (to make sure he wouldn't hit any nerves). He would then push the needle through followed by the jewelry, and I would be all done. He then went on to explain that everything he was using was sterile and they don't reuse needles, and so on. This was the standard speech for me, but my mom took great interest in every word he said. This was the first time she had witnessed a piercing.
He marked my eyebrow in the perfect spot, right where I had pictured it. He clamped it and pushed with the blunt end of the needle, asking if I felt any tingling or numbness. I didn't, so he told me to take a deep breath in, exhale, and I was pierced. Watching my mom cringe was definitely a highlight, as I love the feeling of being pierced. He put the jewelry in and told me to look in the mirror. It was perfect, except the CBR looked huge! We paid and tipped him, then went to the car. Later that night, I was discussing it with one of my friends. She said that she also had a huge CBR put in when it was pierced, so I wasn't alone.
The piercing didn't hurt at all...literally. I barely even felt it. Now, three days later, I still haven't felt any pain. However, the feeling when I tip my head and the ring falls to one side or the other is pretty nifty.
To anyone thinking about an eyebrow piercing, I'd say go for it. It's a piercing that suits almost anyone, and it doesn't hurt. The only issue I'm really concerned with is if my body rejects it, and if that happens, it happens. It's nothing I can stop, although I'm really hoping it doesn't because I like it more than I thought I would.
Another thing that I enjoyed about this experience is that it gave me the opportunity to try a new studio. I usually get my piercings done at Razzamatattz in Regina, but since I moved to Moose Jaw, I had a location issue. My friend went to get pierced at In Essence, so I decided that I would get my septum done there. I enjoyed the experience, and afterwards learned that she had done many piercings on my usual piercer in Regina. I had always wondered about Psycho City, but I hadn't heard from anyone who has been there so I stuck to In Essence. I'm lucky to live somewhere with easy access to so many great piercing places. =)
