I remember the first day I saw someone with their bridge pierced. I honestly thought it was the ugliest thing in the world. But then after a few months I began to fall in love with the piercing that I used to think was so horrible. I really don't know why I changed my mind but I found myself starting to make plans to get my bridge pierced. I hadn't had any concerns about it except I wasn't sure if it would suit me or not. But I finally decided that I would get it done and now it is my favourite piercing by far.
At A Glance Author Joanne Contact Joanne@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Matt Studio Creation Body Piercing Location Thunder Bay, ON I made an appointment at Creations just after Christmas. I never had enough funds to get it done before but I had gotten lots of money for Christmas so therefore I was able to afford my new piercing. I decided to get it done during my school holidays too just in case my bridge decided to swell up and I would have to hide in my basement all day until the swelling went away.
So the day of my appointment finally came and I was so tired because I had gotten no sleep the night before because I was too excited. I almost didn't make it to my appointment because I had misplaced my ID and couldn't find it for a few hours. But then my friend saved the day by finding it in a place I had checked 100 times.
When I got to creations I was somewhat nervous as always right before I get something pierced. I hopped on into the piercing room and sat in the chair waiting for Matt to get all set up. Once I was in there I wasn't really nervous anymore. I was more excited to get it done. Matt gave me some advice about the piercing and told me about how he got his bridge done in BC and it swelled up really bad. He assured me that that wouldn't happen at Creations. I trust him because he's a very good piercer, probably the best in town.
Matt cleaned the area around my bridge and marked where the holes were going to be. I swear it took him an hour to mark my bridge and I think him rubbing off the marker constantly hurt more than the piercing itself. But he wants all his piercings that he does to look perfect so he takes his time to make sure everything is right. I kept doing this weird eyebrow lift thing while he was marking my bridge too so that complicated the process a bit.
So after getting everything evened up, it was almost time to stick the needle through my skin. Matt got out the clamp and carefully placed it on the bridge of my nose. I asked him if this was going to hurt and he said it probably would hurt a bit and that my eyes would water. Then he told me to take a deep breath and release so that is what I did. I hardly felt the needle go through my skin. My eyes never even watered and I don't think there was any bleeding. I thought it would of hurt more than it did but I guess I have a high pain tolerance or something.
After putting the jewelry in, he showed me my new piercing in the mirror and I was so happy because it looked so sweet! I think it looks good on me so I'll be keeping it for awhile. Matt told me how to take care of my piercing and told me to come back in a week or so to get the bar shortened. I then paid and left.
I went back to Creations today and got the bar shortened and it looks much better now.
I got both good and bad reactions from a lot of people. For the first week I avoided my parents because I had not told them I was going to get my bridge pierced and I didn't think they'd like the idea of me having another hole in my skin. But then they finally saw it and they didn't seem to mind too much. My dad thinks I look like Frankenstein for some reason and my mom doesn't really care at all. The only people that don't really like it are my grandparents but that's okay. I like it and that's all that matters.
Overall I am very happy with my new piercing. It's very easy to take care of and its healing quite well. It swelled up for a little bit for about a day or two but now the swelling is gone. I'd recommend this piercing to anyone because it truly is a great piercing to have! If you have you doubts about getting your bridge pierced, I say just go get it done. You wont regret it!
