Ever since 4th grade, I had always wanted my eyebrow and/or labret pierced. All of my friends thought I was crazy and thought that I would NEVER go through with it. They didn't even understand why I had my ears pierced. Though my friends obviously didn't approve of my desire to get the piercing's, I kept my little dream.

In 7th grade I had wanted to get my ears pierced a second time and after I had done that, I fell even deeper in love with piercing's. By the time I was in 10th grade I had my ears pierced 7 times in each ear (Mall piercing's and self done, both of which are bad things to do! Luckily I had no problems with the piercing's.), and of course that wasn't enough for me and I began asking my parents if I could get my labret pierced. After months of begging my parents... they still said no.

So I moved on to begging them about getting my eyebrow pierced.

After begging them for about 3 months, my mother said "FINE! If you still want it in 6 months, then I will take you to get it done."

I shut up, and didn't say anything to them about the piercing for 6 months and when the day came when 6 months were up, I said "So, we going to get my eyebrow done?" and my mom just looked at me and sighed. She expressed her feelings on the piercing, and how this is "Self Mutilation". Having been through all of that and knowing the difference between Self Mutilation and Body Modification, I explained to her the differences. Half an hour later, we were on our way to Steve's Tattoo.

Once we parked and went inside, we soon learned that in Wisconsin (where I live), has the law is, you have to be 16 years old to get a piercing (with a parent's permission). So we left and I was disappointed of course. Mainly in myself because I should have done more research about the piercing Laws in Wisconsin. It wasn't that I didn't know about different states having different laws. I just didn't stop to think about our laws.

Well, my mom, my sister and I were going to Georgia to visit family, so I checked the piercing laws in Georgia. This ended up to be good news! In Georgia you could be any age as long as you had a parent's permission.

The day finally came where I was finally going to get my eyebrow pierced! I was so excited, as well as very nervous. I didn't know what to expect. This was my first real piercing. I mean real as in, done the proper way (at a tattoo and piercing parlor). I had no idea what the needles even looked like. I anticipated the worst.

When we got to the place, I was the first one out of the car. I looked like I had drunk 100 cups of coffee! I was shaking so bad! My mother, sister and older cousin came with me. We all walked inside and had a look around. A man came to the counter and asked how he could help us. My mother said that I was getting my eyebrow pierced. He gave her some papers to sign and asked to see her drivers license. She payed him $50 and then he led me and my family into another room.

The room was white and had a leopard print chair, which he told me to hop up on. He prepared the table next to me with that blue napkin thing you see at the dentist, and he asked me what kind of jewelry I wanted. I told him I wanted a CBR (Captive Bead Ring). He put on gloves and took out some packages, I don't remember how many, but there was a needle in one, some clamps in another, the jewelry in another, etc.

He asked me which eyebrow I wanted done, and I said my left one. He did the whole alcohol swab thing on my eyebrow and placed two dots on my eyebrow with a purple pen. He told me to look in the mirror to see if I liked it. I thought the dots were too close together. So he handed me the pen and I marked it myself and hopped back up on the chair. I looked at the table and saw the jewelry. It was 14 Gauge. I thought that eyebrows were done with 16 gauge. I thought that maybe it was a 16 and I just couldn't tell the difference. So I asked him if that was a 16 gauge and he told me that it was a 14 and that I could change it to a 16 when the piercing healed. I just smiled and said okay.

He then proceeded to clamp my eyebrow. It didn't hurt, it was just odd pressure that I had never felt before. Then he asked me if I wanted him to count and I said no. I closed my eyes and there was just some more awkward pressure. He told me I could open my eyes and when I did, there was the needle hanging from my eyebrow, it was the craziest thing I had ever felt and saw. My cousin had been holding my hand the whole time and she squeezed ME when the needle went through, my mother was just WHITE and had her hand to her mouth. My sister was just like "DID IT HURT!?",everyone looked at me and I laughed and said "Nope". He put the ring in (which didn't hurt at all... some people say that is the worst part... but I didn't think so).

He handed me a mirror and I looked and smiled. It was awesome!

He explained the whole cleaning process and gave me an aftercare sheet and some anti-bacterial soap and some sea salt.

That was that. It was all over... and I had a ring in my eyebrow. I was so happy. My mother however was just like "Wow...." and so was everyone else, but I was happy.

There was a HUGE bruise under my eyebrow for like 2 weeks, but other then that I had NO problems with it, which to this day, I still don't. I absolutely LOVE my eyebrow ring and I definitely think that if you want a piercing and don't quite know what you want, go for an eyebrow ring! It generally looks okay on most people. I'm not saying all, because that piercing isn't for everyone. This is a good piercing to have done if you have never had a "real" piercing before. The only real bad thing about it is, it's a surface piercing and has a higher risk of migration then some other piercing's, but that doesn't mean it will definitely migrate on you. It's all how your body takes it.

Hope this was at least a little informational! If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Happy piercing! :)
