Since I was about thirteen years old I have wanted a piercing of some kind. Every kind looked appealing to me, but the one that stuck out most to me was the eyebrow ring. I thought it looked sexy, different, and cute all at the same time. No one around where I lived really had one, so I thought what the heck i'll do it.

I myself disagreed and kept on asking till I was about 18. By that time I was old enough to do it myself, but my parents had said if I came home with one I was going to be kicked out of the house. So I decided on something I thought they would not see. A tongue ring. To my surprise in a fight we were having my mother saw it as I opened my mouth to yell. She threw a fit and never got over it till one day a few weeks later.
I kept the tongue ring in and was satisfied until I started getting the itch for another piercing. This time I was determined to get the one I had always wanted. My eyebrow. Since mom had thrown such a fit about the tongue ring, I decided to try and make a deal with her that she probably would not refuse.
Since I was a singer and all my voice instructors freaked out about me even having a tongue ring, I decided I could let the tongue ring go in exchange to be allowed to get an eyebrow at no cost to my mother. The only deal was she could not gripe about it when I finally got it. We sat down, discussed it and came to a conclusion. She said yes reluctantly and I took the tongue ring out infront of her. To this day she still asks me to open my mouth to make sure it is gone.
The following day I called and made an appointment at Safari for my new piercing. It was the same studio I had my tongue done in, so I trusted the girl doing it. I got it for 12:30 in the afternoon, right after my class let out and 3 hours before I had to go to my job at the time that didn't allow piercings to be shown. I thought I could just put a bandaid over it so I wouldn't have to try and put a spacer in that soon.
I got there, filled out some papers, they checked my I.D. and was led to the back room. She held out some rings and gave me a choice of a dainty little bar bell or a more noticable larger one. I told her since I was having to work that day that a smaller one would be the best. In reality I should have went with the bigger one to begin with because you can grasp the balls better when cleaning. My piercer and I talked about some random stuff as she cleaned and sterilized all the equipment. Since my tongue hadn't hurt very much, I wasn't scared of this one hurting so I relaxed in the chair. I was ready for this.
As she held the needle to my eye and marked the spot I got ancy, but overall I was pretty calm about it. She counted to three and slid it in. I FELT NO PAIN AT ALL! It actually felt kind of good because she massaged my face to loosen up the skin before doing it. When I looked in the mirror I fell in love with it. It accented my eyes and was not as swollen as I thought it would be. I showed it off to my best friend first and then I went home and faced my mother. She naturally hated it,but since we had a deal she didn't say anything. Everyone else seemed to love the new piece of jewelery I had.
Since then I have kept good care of it and it is doing well. My job required me to wear a band aid, but I recently quit and can show it off whenever I want now! I also made the mistake of buying a ring from Wal-Mart and it ended up getting a little infected as soon as I put it in. I quickly changed back to a different one I bought at the studio and it has been doing fine. I strongly recommend not changing your piercing for at least a few weeks and make sure it is either surgical steel or titanium when you do. I recommened this piercing to anyone who wants it! I buy jewelery like crazy for it now. It is so much fun! It's easy to take care of and there are so many selections of jewelery to choose from!
