About a month ago I had gotten my eyebrow pierced which I had wanted for the longest time! I asked my mom if I could get it done and she had absolutely no problem with it but she told me to have my dad bring me. My parents kept telling me over and over how trashy I would look but I wanted that piercing so bad I didn't care how i looked with it!! I had read a few peoples experiences on here about how there eyebrow rejected (when the body pushes the object right out of your skin...which can result in a scar) But I thought well no big deal that won't happen to me! Anyways here is my story about my eyebrow experience...

So I got my eyebrow pierced finally the day before Halloween! I was so nervous that day, but very excited to. It was my first actual "real piercing" because all I've ever had done is 4 on each lobe and a helix piercing done with a gun or myself. Anyways on the way to the shop my dad kept asking me are you sure you want this? What if it rejects and you get a scar if you don't take it out on time? I was like who cares I want it so bad I just don't care!

Finally we arrived at the shop which was a very small one and looked pretty clean. There was a few people waiting to get pierced so I also had to wait, and thats when i was getting REALLY nervous! After about 20 minute wait it was my turn to get pierced and by this point I was thinking of just leaving I was so nervous! But I decided to go with the piercing and I signed a few papers, and my dad had to sign them as well and I read through some information about the piercing.

While I was filling out those papers she was in the room getting all my stuff ready to go. Then 5 minutes later she came back out and said come on in the room here. So I went back there and she had me sit down right away. I wondered why I didn't get to pick out my jewelery like some people have. She took out a straight barbell, and other people on BME here said how you should always get your eyebrow done with a curved barbell to help prevent rejection. She told me a straight one would be fine though, and I believe her since she was the piercer. Anyways, she explained everything she would be doing during the procedure, and asked me if I had any questions. I just asked the usual like "how bad will this hurt?" and "how often do eyebrows reject?" Then she showed me the clamp, needle, etc. Finally it was time for the piercing...

Then she cleaned my ear off and marked 2 dots showing me where the barbell would go through. I liked the spot she marked so told her that was good. Next, she put the clamp on my eyebrow to hold the skin in place. She told me how I really didn't have a lot of skin around my eyebrow, so not much skin would be holding the barbell in, but she told me it would be fine. Then she told me she would push the needle through on the count of three and told me to keep breathing in and out. Well, while I was breathing heavily and shaking from my nervousness she put the needle through and honestly it barely hurt! It was just a quick pinch and then the jewelery went in and it was over. She had me get up in the mirror and I told her I liked it, but the only thing I didn't like was how long the barbell was which kind of looked weird. She told me it was only temporary and in 6-8 weeks I could come back and get a shorter barbell put in.

After all that she explained the aftercare to me and I paid her my 60 bucks including a 5 dollar tip. She said see you in 6-8 weeks to change that barbell, and I couldn't wait to get a shorter one put in!

When I got home I called my friends right away and told them the good news! I loved my eyebrow piercing so much. When I went to school or out places I always got the question "DID THAT HURT?!" For the first few days my eyebrow didn't get infected or anything but was a bit swollen but not even noticeable to others. As the weeks went on though less skin started to cover the piercing but I thought nothing of it, I thought it was normal. About 3 weeks later there was barely any skin holding it in so I kept telling my dad to take me back to the shop and get it looked at. We kept putting that off though which was NOT a good idea at all! Now today, it was the 4th week of having my piercing and it was literally hanging by a piece of dried dead skin and you could see the bar under my skin, it was so gross! I tried taking it out myself but couldn't get the balls on the barbell to unscrew so I decided I'd go get my tragus pierced and have the piercer take my eyebrow barbell out. When I went it was a different piercer working and he said whoa you need to take that out now...so he took it out for me.

I really miss my piercing though and want it back so bad, but I just think I won't get another eyebrow piercing ever because I barely have any extra skin on my eyebrow to hold in another barbell! Now in placement of my barbell...I have dry dead skin and a big indent in my eyebrow that will probably form into a scab or a scar sooner or later! Not to mention I'm missing some hairs around my eyebrow in that area but they'll grow back soon.

I really recommend you getting your eyebrow pierced if you want it though! Just make sure you have lots of extra skin around your eyebrow! Also look around for the cheapest price and of course cleanest place. I paid 60 bucks for my eyebrow, and now I'm just going to get a scar probably which really sucks. If you have any questions about eyebrow piercings and rejection just email me or something (hockeychik027@hotmail.com) Good luck with your piercings!
