I went to Oz Tattoo to see Spiccoli on October 1st, 2004, at first to get my nipples pierced, but decided against it for a few reasons at the time. Instead, I got my eyebrow and tongue pierced, and I am so happy that I chose to do them. I arrived, and at first got my tongue pierced. Then my friend, Meg, got her cartilage pierced and my other friend, Corey, got a tattoo. During the process of him getting his tattoo, someone else came in and had their eyebrow pierced. I really liked the way it looked, and despite the fact that my boyfriend hates eyebrow rings and thought they were ugly, I decided that because I had wanted one for such a long time, I was going to get it, and he'd just have to deal with it because it isn't that big of a deal.

It's a lame idea, but it has worked: if you wear a band aid, they can not demand that you remove it and let them see what is there. It is not humiliating or anything because everyone knows what is there and they have seen it and think it is cool. (That was for those of you who want one but don't think you can because you'll get in trouble. It seems lame, but it is only for six weeks and think about your eyebrow ring that you love so much!)
The procedure itself wasn't painful at all for me. I just sat down and he made the marks for where the ring would be placed, and asked me if that was where I wanted it. I said it was fine with me because I trust his judgment a lot; and so on he went to do it for me. He got out his "tools" and I waited. Then, he took my eyebrow, started putting the needle in through the bottom, and then maneuvered my skin so that he could go through the top with the curve it needs for the ring. He did a really good job.
The eyebrow ring looks really good, and I am really happy that I went through with getting it, especially because I had wanted one for a while. All you can see are the spikes, not the bar, and so far everyone has told me it is really cool. My boyfriend changed his mind about eyebrow rings once he saw it, telling me that it actually "doesn't look half bad" and now he actually says it is cute. The process was not painful, if that is what you are afraid of. Once you're done, it looks really good.
It takes about six weeks to heal, before you can change it. All you have to do is wash it three to five times a day with liquid antibacterial soap, and I personally like dial a lot. You don't really have to put salt water on it because it doesn't swell much. You have to move the ring up and down every so often so that your skin doesn't heal and grip the ring, but I am really happy with it and i have had it for almost four weeks.
For the school purposes, I can not wait until I can put a retainer in it and then change it to a ring when I want it. That's another good thing about piercings: you can put retainers in them which you can hardly see, and you can also take them out if you don't like them (at the time or after a while), and it will heal. I recommend the eyebrow piercing to anyone who really wants it, because it is easy to take care of and it looks really good. It also doesn't really hurt. For me, I only felt pain when the needle came out the top, but that was literally for a second.
The only thing that has hurt for most other people is the use of the tongs to grip it, but those weren't used on me because I guess he felt he could do a better job if he maneuvered my skin between his fingers. The ring options are minimal, but they are all pretty cool. Since it is not that much work to take care of an eyebrow ring, and it can be hidden, it is a really good choice if you are not good at remembering to take care of it or something.
I really like my eyebrow ring, and I think that most people really like it once they have it, especially because for some people it brings out your beautiful eyes. It may be a little painful for some, but it is really worthwhile in the end, and if you really want it, definitely go for it. I don't see anything that should hold anyone back.
